Judging from the ump's previous calls, it was close enough to be a strike. In fact, it looked like an actual strike to me... At the knees and on the corner...
I actually thought the ump was being quite tight with the strike zone, atleast until that last pitch for Melky. Oh well..
Well done, Alex.

Also, giving up 1 out every 9 batters would be slightly less effective then Cairo batting now ;)
I'd agree with you, but in the last two games he has two pretty huge two-out hits. If he is THIS Cairo- the '04 era Cairo who was a bad hitter except when they simply needed a slap single- I would be ok.

Well, before that half of the inning, the ump had a generous wide strikezone. The pitches he weren't calling for strikes were outside though. That last pitch to Melky did appear to be a strike to me. It wouldn't surprise me if it crossed the plate had they shown more camera angles to it.

You guys probably read this in the morning, but what do you all think of the Yanks trading for Todd Walker to give the team some depth.
He can platoon with Cano at 2nd on select days and can play first base on the days when Giambi DH's and take away Phillips' bat from the lineup.
Doesnt seem like a bad deal to me.

In their defense, he wasn't a fit. He is not young, is likely never going to be a decent full time player, and he wasn't hitting at all this year. He had no trade value, and didn't fit long term.
They need to play their kids (of course, that includes Sanders, Mientkiewicz, Grudzelanek, et al- so it is slightly untrue). But, that being said, KC getting rid of Guiel isn't a big deal.

Where's his pitch count?
I really hope Torre doesn't go Moose for 6, Proctor, Farns, Mo. I'd much rather see Moose or Villone in the 7th, give the offense a chance to put the game out of reach.

Considering how this game started, that does not sound bad at all.
I was convinced he would last only 5.

Seems like every outlet but New York has homer announcers. I don't know if I wish everyone else would have the dispassion of Kay/Sterling or if I'd rather Kay/Sterling were total homers.i would rather have funs, at least they will express some frustration so you don't feel alone,

Very possibly...though with the Sox rotation right now, it's hold serve during their two legit pitchers, and make up ground with the kids or the trash.
Moose needs to buckle down and help himself have a strong 2nd half.

Bad results, good AB's. 1st AB he was robbed of a base hit by the pitcher, 2nd AB on a 3-2 count chased ball 4 and struck out, his 3rd AB he was called out on a questionable (Wasn't a strike ;) ) 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded, & his 4th AB he grounded out hard to SS on a 3-2 count.
