34 pitches, thanks. Ok, well, we can get him out by the 6th. By then the gap should be narrowed, if not overcome, and we can bury em in the 7th and 8th.

How about ARod take responsibility for himself?
Jeter not speaking out against the fans or the media translates to him not caring about winning. Riiiiight. Cause he's the Captain. Of course.your arguement proves our point,
yes he is the captain, he is the leader of the players. Not the fans.

We're simply playing better teams right now and our personnel losses are getting exposed. I would not be surprised if we are 6-7 games out within the next week.
Teams better than whom? US?!?! You're not serious....
6-7 out? BWAhhhaahahhhhaaaa!!!!
Be prepared to BE SURPRISED!!
Mark it on your calendar & get back to us next week, because I surely have YOU marked on MY calendar.

what in the world does money have to do with anything,
and jeter is the captain. Grown men need support too.
I would think that for $25M per year you'd be able to hire your own shrink. That's all.
Jeter cares about winning. And Jeter is smart enough to not take on the fans that love him by basically telling them how *they* should feel & act towards ARod. ARod is (supposed to be) a big boy. It's on him to get himself out of whatever funk he's in. And I think he will.
I'm dropping it as I didn't intend to get into on the game thread.

He does have his own shrink. We're talking about Jeter doing for Arod what the captain of a team would/should do for any teammate. And since you've dropped it, that means I get the last word. :P

yes arod an afford it, why bring up money, that just screams of intolerance due to jealousy of income. Money doesn't matter, just because he makes an obscene amount of money doesn't mean he isn't human and feels things.

OK - mark me on your calender.
If we are not 6 - 7 games out by the end of next week, I will be a positive voice on this forum for 2 weeks. Seriously though, our hitting has been WAY too good for the players that have been forced into action and the norm is on the way. Bernie, Guiel, Melky to an extent, and others have contributed in ways that are outside of the norm.
I just do not think that we can continue to complete with the makeup of this team. Injuries have taken their toll and sooner than later we are going to pay the price in losses.
I wish I could be more positive, but I can't. Coming back to win a game like this against a quality pitcher like AJ might give me some hope, however right now I would prefer to become a seller and start building a team for 2007

I would call it a clutch it.
Agreed. Some people need to get out of their heads that clutch hits cant come early in games...they certainly can.
Down 4-0, on the verge of blowing another scoring chance. A hit was needed there and he delivered a big one.

Exactly, my definition of a clutch it is a a hit that comes when the team REALLY needs it. Often that need comes in later innings but it could also occur early, as it did tonight.
