Is there a good site for detailed stats? For example I'm trying to find out where Chien Ming Wang ranks in causing double plays, or how Jason Giambi is hitting as a DH vs as a 1B. The obvious places (mlb.com, espn.com) dont seem to have those categories.

Thanks!

If you go to a player card on ESPN.com, click splits, and then click "More splits" at the bottom, you can get things like the 1B/DH breakdown for Giambi:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?statsId=5386&type=batting&year=2006

Some sites that I use for my stats needs in addition to mlb.com and espn.com:

cbs.sportsline.com
yahoo.com Sports section (you can get splits for 1987-present there)
baseball-reference.com (my favorite site for stats from past years)
retrosheet.org (historical splits, box scores and PBP from tons and tons of games)

I run the website RedSoxStats.com (http://www.redsoxstats.com) where I track sabermetric stats. I do have sections on my site called MLB Hitting (http://www.redsoxstats.com/mlbhitting.htm) and MLB Pitching (http://www.redsoxstats.com/mlbpitching.htm) where I track the top players in all of baseball and usually have the Red Sox and Yankees players highlighted. I updated those stats today, hope you find it interesting. Here is a glossary (http://www.redsoxstats.com/glossary.htm).

No problem. It's tricky the way they have it. :)

ESPN has a lot of splits. If you're also interested in historical players, baseball-reference.com is maybe the best site in my opinion.

Also, a few more:

www.baseballprospectus.com has a bunch of more advanced stats (as well as the more common ones, though they don't have splits)

www.fangraphs.com has win probability charts of all games, plus charts of various stats throughout players' careers. Both excellent sites for stats. :)

www.thehardballtimes.com also has some good stuff.

While I'm at it, www.thebaseballcube.com is good for college/Japanese/historical minor league stats. :)
