They showed a shot of Jim Thome's first HR in 1991. Yankee stadium was empty. I remember that season because my dad and I went to a few games and we were able to upgrade our seats after the first inning and there was about ten fights in the stands every game.

sweet_lou_14
07-15-06, 12:47 PM
I am sick and tired of all those swings from A-Rod that end up with a ball off the end of the bat, whether in play or not. Those are just bad swings, period. He's getting very few balls centered on the fat part of the bat.

dabomb2045
07-15-06, 12:47 PM
I keep saying it....but I've never seen such a talented hitter guess so much at the plate. That last AB by ARod was an example.

He is sitting fastball, and is way ahead on a changeup and fouls it off. Then he guesses changeup....and is wayyyyyy behind the fastball.

He needs to stop thinking so much and just see the ball and hit the ball.

The Burly White Sox Pitcher throws strikes. With him, you need to strike first.I remember the Red Sox really took pitches against Jon Lieber in the 2004 ALCS. Don't swing early, make the pitcher work, run up the pitch count and then feast on the weaker bullpen.

Oh wait, that strategy failed miserably as they were 0-2 in the count all game and did nothing.
