Moose at 74 pitches thru 5, he really needs to go at least 7 tonight.

Moose clearly is not on his game tonight. To some extent, he is pitching to contact and hoping the batter hits it to an outfielder. So far, he's getting ok results, but this isnt the Moose of 6 weeks ago. Hopefully, he gets through these next few innings ok. Farnsworth and Smith are pretty fresh, and Rivera is avialable is the game gets at all close (ie, within 4 runs )

Groin injury.

He's manning up, and pitching with a wrapped leg.

I knew about the groin, but wasn't aware of the wrap. That can't be comfortable.

And what do you know, he gets a ground ball DP!

Hopefully, the AS break allows him to fully heal. Has he had groin problems in the past?

CLEVELAND - Mike Mussina doesn't want to take any chances, so he'll wear a heavy wrap on his right leg tonight when he starts for the first time since his right groin muscle tightened up last Friday against the Mets. After losing the first two games of their series against the Indians, the Yankees need Mussina to get them back on track. "He's the perfect guy," Joe Torre said of his de facto ace.
Mussina said he isn't too concerned about his leg - he was able to pitch three more innings after it flared up before a rain delay cut his outing short - but said wearing the wrap "keeps me from getting too spread out."
Torre admitted that any unusual movement could do more damage to Mussina but trusts that the righthander won't keep any discomfort to himself - even though the Bombers' bullpen is weary and the Yanks need a lift.
Pitching coach Ron Guidry and Torre will be watching Mussina closely, and if they sense any issues with his leg, they'll pull him. "We wouldn't let him (pitch through it)," Torre said.
