You know, I had a few minutes of spare time the other day and turned on WIP in Philadelphia. I love Howard Eskin, who does the afternoon show there and he and the callers were just rippin the Phillies right and left. Abreu calls nonstop. Here was one sampling:
Eskin: John, your on WIP
Caller John: Howard, what are we going to do about the Phillies?
Eskin: They stink.
Caller John: I cant stand Abreu, he's gotta go.
Eskin: You know what, you can talk about his .450 OBP and all that. But he never hits in the clutch.
Caller John: You think any team would take him?
Eskin: Maybe. But Abreu is a dog. An absolute dog. For you Abreu fans, how'd you like those 3 strikeouts (against the Yankees on Wednesday) last night?
Caller John: He's overrated.
It was just funny to listen to for a half hour. And its must listen to radio after an Eagles loss during the season.

The 2 runs scored on BJ are a joke also.
May 7th vs the Angels, when the Jays were up 3-0:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="5" width="560"><tbody><tr><td class="yspscores"> - O. Cabrera singled to center </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspscores"> - O. Cabrera to second on fielder's indifference </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspscores"> - V. Guerrero struck out swinging </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspdetailttl yspscored"> - G. Anderson hit sacrifice fly to center, O. Cabrera scored</td></tr></tbody></table>
May 27th vs White Sox, Jays were up 2-1:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="5" width="560"><tbody><tr><td class="yspscores"> - J. Crede doubled to right </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspscores"> - P. Ozuna hit for R. Mackowiak </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspscores"> - P. Ozuna safe at first on catcher G. Zaun's fielding error, J. Crede to third </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspdetailttl yspscored"> - J. Uribe singled to shortstop, J. Crede scored, P. Ozuna to second </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="yspscores"> - S. Podsednik grounded into fielder's choice, P. Ozuna out at third, J. Uribe to second</td></tr></tbody></table>
Without the error, the run doesn't score from second on a "single" to the SS.
EDIT: That's not to say that Pap hasn't been absolutely dominating this year also.

When we were playing the Sox, Ortiz got on first while Giambi was there, and he was standing a foot or so directly in front of Giambi. He actually was completely hiding Giambi, you wouldn't have been able to even know he was there until Ortiz moved a bit.

They may as well keep him as a closer. I've had this argument with several people about this. You would much rather have the "Rivera" than the "Schilling", because in the age of pitch counts and innings pitched, most starters will not pitch complete games and therefore will end up giving up the ball before the 9th anyway. But if you have a "Rivera", you have a feeling that once he is given the ball to slam the door, its over. And there have been too many teams that have had championship starting rotations and dreams shattered by closers who couldnt get those final 3 or 4 outs at the end of the game.

You're the Director of Media. You got to know definite answers to these questions! ;)
I called MLBTV and they said they wont show the game because the normal scheduled start time was 4pm. Even it starts at 9pm tonight, they wont show it. The same goes for DirecTV.

I was wondering that too. What's the rule, any game that's played before 7:00 EST is property of FOX?

There is a reason Ortiz is tis clutch. Pitchers are afraid of him. He himself has said he doesnt change his approach, its the pitchers who change theirs or try to be too careful and think too much, leading to mistakes. This is a big reason why we need Sheffield back, for whatever reason he is also intiminating.

He will continue to be until pitchers toughen up against him and pitch to him like they would in any other situation or against any other good hitter. Sure they would still give up some hits and home runs if they did that, but it wouldnt be nearly as much as they do now.

FYI, ESPN's Gamecast (leaps and bounds better than MLB, MSN, etc., IMO) says that the game in Baltimore is also delayed... I don't know what direction that's headed, but it still doesn't look good for the forseeable future anyways.

OK, YESNetwork.com has the official deal.
1:05 - First game on YES
8:05 - 2nd game (no TV)
Now, if you are outside of the tri-state area, there is a 99% chance you will be blacked out because of the ESPN Sunday Night broadcast window. However, if you have MLBTV, simply log in, do your tricks, and enjoy. You'll have to deal with the scoreboard video feed for the game because of no YES.
From Yankees.com
Fans holding paid tickets for Saturday's postponed game may use them for Sunday's 8:05 p.m. game or may exchange them for any regular-season game at Yankee Stadium through the end of the 2007 season, subject to availability. Those fans will also be invited back to another regular season game during the 2007 season. The Yankees will announce more details at a later date.

I was there today, fun time.
I'm a college kid, my friend from Florida (Marlins fan) came up for the weekend, and he basically decided he was going to brave the weather, no poncho or anything, I wasn't going to be the wimp, needless to say we were drenched, but it was loads of fun...
Couldn't believe they put the tarp on the field after the top 1, it was raining, but not that hard, and by the time the tarp came on, the rain had stopped. After 30 mins of this, we started a "it's not raining" chant, and I think someone upstairs heard us, cause boy did we get punished for that, it was pouring for a good hour.
Not too surprised at that point to have it cancelled, but oh well, a fun day was had, good thing it was a nice warm day, I'll say that
