View Full Version : 6/19/06 NYY @ PHI Johnson v. Myers
Hey DaBomb, Sam18 - I'm not trying to be annoying, I'm being serious - but with your two tags of "refuse to boo," and "fire torre," I was wondering if you find it acceptable to boo Torre?
Yes I would boo Torre. I'm refusing to boo A-rod because he's in a slump and booing is going to make matters worse.

Well it's time for the Yankees to show everyone that his start to the season has been a fluke.

Ding ding ding!! I don't know why people even respond to him.
He said I knew nothing about baseball because I said the Yankees and Sox have similiar rotations, and that neither team knows what they are getting out of Lester and Chacon.

As currently constructed, I'd agree. Unlike a lot of fans (not lumping you in this group), I'm able to enjoy watching them try to accomplish what is within their reach.
I think that we have a shot at the post season, and that we will know a lot more about some of our youngsters by October. Both interest the fan in me.I am with you, I just hope that can stay in the hunt and sneak a playoff birth out of this, that will be very rewarding.
and once you get in the playoffs anything can happen

Watch Farnsworth implode, and Gordon strike out the side. MattPat will be loving it.

Seriously, I get too stressed out because my expectations are way to high for this team and I realize that. If I could learn to just relax and watch the game instead of tensing up every inning then I would have a lot more fun. I'm going to try to do that from now on.
Plus the fact...that we have a tendency 'to wear our heart on our sleeve'. Everyone that knows me..knows I'm a die-hard Yankee fan and don't skip every opportunity to let me know when the Yanks lose.
Ah well...Don't let it bother you too much.

these past two weeks have been tough to watch
Watching the Yankees lately has turned into that episode of The Twilight Zone where the guy has the same horrific nightmare every night - the only thing that changes are the people, but the same thing keeps happening - and he knows it. He's so freaked out by the nightmares that he tries to stay awake, and he's up for a week and finally goes to a psychiatrist.
The falls asleep, and he's still trapped in the same horrific nightmare, and in the end, you realize he'll never be free of the constant repeating nightmare.

The defense is really grotesque on this team..while I think the value of defense is often overrated (at least in the tradeoff between offense and defense) there is no question this team has 5 more wins with even an average defense.
Edit: Anyone blaming Farnsorth for that WP is crazy. However, he pitched like he usually does..mediocre..and put the runner in a position to score.

AND...the roller coaster continues the downward spiral without brakes.
There's always tomorrow. Lata.
I didn't want to re-sign him due to injury concerns...but I wish they did.

I hope this is not the June swoon we used to see from the Sox all those years.
The offense is really starting to get to me.
Yankees total bases: 11
Yankees total walks: 6
Yankees HRs: 1
Phillies total bases: 7
Phillies total walks: 4
Phillies HRs: 0
The pitching steps up, and the offense just leaves everyone on base.
I want to choke someone. this is so pathetic.

Meanwhile, Manny just homered in the 8th at Fenway. 6-3 Sox over Nats
Wow Tom. Act like you've been there before. Those celebratory shenanigans would never fly if he ever were to play for the Yankees.

Gordon and Myers were good. The AB of the night was that Cano AB in my opinion.
BASES LOADED AND YOU HAVE A 2-1 COUNT AND CHASE BALL 3.

I am thinking the same thing. If I just stopped watching the Yankee games, my life would be so much less stressful
Me too... but he wasn't closing for the Yankees this year and I believe they made a good decision by not giving in on a 3rd year...
My point was that he rarely threw that pitch when he was a Yankee. That pitch plus his fastball makes him effective. Too often he was not effective as a Yankee.

You mean when we had 1st and 2nd with no outs after the giambi homer? And then they struck out the side. Yeah - i agree.

When the Yanks go off on a suck tangent (like they are now), I ususally take a few days off from watching games. Read a book. Write a letter. Take a walk. Get the scores online later.
I usually come back around when the Yankees decide to.
Give it a shot, you'll thank me later.

This is just ridiculous. Losing 3 in a row to the Nationals and Phillies? Two under 500 teams?
Team GOAT today is definitely Jorge Posada. He gets up with the bases loaded earlier in the game and swings at the first pitch. We could have broke that game open with the way Randy was dealing, but no. That insurance run that he should have blocked was the nail in the coffin.

I need a break from this pathetic display. I may impose a self--inflicted boycott of all Yankee games until this team shows it is capable of winning a baseball game.

I'd put Cano on that list. Horrible, horrible at bats and a very costly error.

In my mind, 5 Ks should not equate to two runs, especially with the amount of non-RISP offense the Yankees showed.
It is clear that Cano is in a bad slump. Yet he seems to come up in the most important situations.
Right now, I am disgusted with the way this team is playing. Other than the Jeter through A-Rod and RJ, the team's performance was disgusting.

Cano's hit streak ended yesterday and he is batting over 400 for the month of june, I wouldnt call 2 games a bad slump.
