I'm not exactly sure what the thinking is behind having a Stinnett on the Yankees? First of all, not that it's his fault but I don't feel that he's contributed anything to improving Randy Johnson's pitching performances. Secondly if we're gonna have a backup catcher, given Posada's current fragility and his need for off days since he generally tends to wear out towards the end of the season then that replacement should atleast be a defensive magician. Get me a backup who can bunt, hit behind the runner, maybe bats .230 but has got Pudge's arm and defensive skills. On another topic, I'm aware Dotel is on his way back but do we still need atleast 1 more arm in the pen? Do we even have the roster room for another arm? If so why not look into one of these guys, yes I know Williamson is on the DL. But they may come cheap and they don't make much.

I'm not so sure about Hernandez (age), but I would take a flier on Williamson. As long as it was a cheap transaction, he seems to fit the recent mold of rejuvantion projects we've taken on (Sturtze, Dotel, Erickson, etc.).

As far as Stinnett goes, I would love a better back-up - defensively and offensively - but so would the other 29 teams. I think we should be looking towards a younger back-up for the future instead.

Well Ben Davis (TJ surgery) is finally out of extended spring training and playing some games in Tampa. In 4 games hes 3 for 16 BUT thats a single, a double, and a homerun. I dont know how he is defensively, but hes 29 and obviously got some pop. So maybe he'll steal Stinnett's job in a month?

I'm not even sure that we need someone with that much pop. Just give me somebody that can throw runners out, make contact and bunt.

This catcher would be a starter somewhere. There aren't many good catchers in all of baseball, let alone good back up catchers.
