With Giambi likely back in the lineup after 2 games off and Jeter feeling fine after the game, the Yankees have the capability of putting back together an excellent lineup against Beckett on Monday
CF Damon - .295/.359/.445
SS Jeter - .344/.435/.498
DH Giambi - .280/.454/.615
3B Rodriguez - .292/.400/.535
C Posada - .293/.408/.483
LF Cabrera - .301/.389/.361
2B Cano - .307/.333/.395
1B Phillips - .291/.318/.456
RF Thompson - .400/.571/.600
The main questions are how the illness affects Giambi and A-Rod with catching up to Beckett's stuff, and whether or not Thompson plays over Long/Bernie
RF Thompson - .400/.571/.600
I do love that 1.171 OPS. :D

One thing going for us is that we much stronger defensively especially in the outfield. We have 3 Center Fielders playing in the OF. Plus it looks like RJ might have straightened himself out.

The defense definitely is stronger with Phillips at 1B and two speedy guys on the corners

I would be shocked to see KT playing instead of Bernie in RF. Absolutely shocked. My guess is the lineup will be:
Damon
Jeter
Giambi DH
A-Rod
Posada
Cano
Bernie
Phillips 1B
Melky

Watching Bernie bat from the leftside is like experiencing a root canal..

bernie will probably play 3 out of the 4 games.
and if torre sits melky against wakefield again, i'm gonna blow a gasket.

Me, too. I haven't heard his reasoning, but whatever it is, flush it down the toilet and play Melky.

That would be my lineup as well. But as long as Terence Long is on the roster, he'll be out there.
If only we had a competent manager.

I agree and think Bernie wil be in right. However, Bernie looked totally overmatched against Beckett last time and stuckout 3 straight times. Nonetheless, he'll probably be out there.

Are these numbers right? Has Phillips moved ahead of Cabrera in OPS? Way to go Andrew.
As for the final question, I don't think Bernie can get around on Beckett, and personally, after today, I think I've seen enough of Long, though I do have some concerns about Thompson playing in YS against the Sox. That's some pressure cooker. Still, Thompson has my vote.

That should be our everyday lineup, no matter who is on the mound. All of those batting averages sure look nice...

Nice one 38Special...
I think that would be a good lineup though we're not pretty sure if Giambi has already recovered from his sickness.
I'd bat Cano first before Melky though, and I believe Thompson will play 2/4 games coz Joe will put Bernie there for sure...

Didn't Bernie have a nice series last time against the Red Sox? How did he do against Beckett?

Our lineup becomes so long once our boppers come back.
Damon, Jeter, Sheffield, Giambi, Rodriguez, Matsui, Posada, Cano, Cabrera.
Really is murderous, and 4 or 5(if you include Matsui) of them are home grown.

If we make it to October and can put that lineup on the field and have depth on the bench, we might be quite the tough out.. But we gotta get there first because while I do think Sheff and Matsui will be seen again this season (Sheff after the ASG and Matsui around Labor day) we are not going to see that lineup any time soon...

I guess Hideki Matsui will be the DH if he comes back. I like it.

I enjoy watching this lineup. I like rooting for guys like Melky, Phillips, and KT.
for me..rooting for guys that are trying to make their name, is what sports is all about.
There is nothing like watching a player blossom into his potential.
Eventhough I don't want to admit it, I think T-Long will be playing tonight. :(
I get the feeling he will single twice tonight, looking really veteran and experienced in the process, and then play for a week straight with about one more hit during that period. Lets hope its a double
