The starting pitching in the upper levels of the minors is atrocious. Now that Rasner is no longer there and on the DL, i dont think theres even a viable starter in the bunch, much less one that would be available tomorrow.

I'm not a pitching coach. Or a pitcher. I do remember that Schilling was left in too long, even if he didn't seem to be laboring, a few weeks back, threw too many pitches, and wasn't right for weeks.

People watching on TV didn't see any sign to take him out. Maybe the guy on the field did. Interesting to hear what they'll say about it.

Or maybe Torre was just too conservative there and made the wrong call.

He'll just act all disgusted that he is even being questioned and basically say Randy threw 114 pitches, and that was his limit.

To take this a step further... I wish a fielder would drop a called infield fly rule on purpose. I believe many base runners don't know the rule and would panic and run when the ball is dropped. At the very least, I'd like them to try it to see what happens.

Jeter did it once, a year or two ago, it was a looping line drive to him near the 2nd base bag, and there was a runner on first and 2nd with 1 out I believe.

He patted the ball down with his glove, then picked it up, stepped on the bag, and threw to first for the DP.

Its possible, but its a bunt so it shouldnt get far enough away from you that it should be a problem. Plus the key is to fake like you are gonna catch it, so the runner starts moving back towards 1st.
