Jasbro

At first I thought Cano was safe -- but he was out. He stuck to the ground a bit as he slid, and was tagged out as he bounced to the plate....

LeapsNbounds
05-30-06, 09:27 PM
As a yankee fan I have seen my share of calls go the yanks way but lately they are getting hosed.

DiMaggio5CF
05-30-06, 09:27 PM
What the hell took Cano so long to get there?

I thought he was safe on the live action, but the replay made him look out.

Also, why do players feel a need to go in with the lead leg bent? If he went in with a straight front leg, that foot probably scrapes the plate ahead of the tag. Instead, he bent the leg and threw the foot in the air, and he was out.

JavyVazquezIsSick
05-30-06, 09:27 PM
His right foot got in before his left was tagged, but of course since the ball was there first the ump automatically called him out. BS! The play shouldn't have been that close, I think Robby was sleeping at 3rd...

trapper700

good play by Alex

RI Dawg
05-30-06, 09:29 PM

DiMaggio5CF
05-30-06, 09:30 PM
Someone with TV give a second opinion?

He was out. On the slide, his front leg kind of bounced toward the plate. It cost him some momentum, and his foot was in the air as he neared the plate.

If he had made a good slide, with that foot extended far and along the ground, he would have made it.

Also, although I couldn't tell from the replays, I suspect that he got a terrible jump from third.

But he was definitely out, thanks in part to a bad slide.

Durazo's not a threat to Phillips. He has no glove, and the Yanks need a backup 1B. I don't think they're thick-headed enough to think Cairo can be that guy- especially with Giambi's nagging injuries.

V. Wells is a beast.
I have a friend who played CF at his Arlington, TX high school. Coach told him he was being cut as a starter, in place of a freshman. My friend's pride was rather bruised.

Needless to say, he doesn't feel so bad about that freshman, Vernon Wells, taking his place.

I vote yes. I say think about yanking him around 30 pitches.

Assuming that Dotel makes a complete and timely recovery.

A big assumption, certainly. He wasn't great in the AL to begin with, and most pitchers struggle with command off the bat with this surgery. But Dotel significantly upgrades the pen, even if it is a partial Dotel.

Yankees8185
05-30-06, 09:44 PM
If it's still tied or we're up by 1, I'd keep Mo in.

2 or more, I go with Villone.

Assuming that Dotel makes a complete and timely recovery.

Well apparently his velocity is back. He's starting to throw his breaking pitches this week. Let's hope his control is there...it can sometimes evade pitchers after TJ surgery.
