Does'nt help Torre's bullpen management options, when the starters repeatedly fail to go six or seven.

But that's the problem. Only a few guys have been consistent, and you can't trot them out there every day. Villone pitched two innings yesterday, Farnsworth has pitched like three days in a row, and Myers is a situational guy. Proctor has stunk, Erickson is terrible, and you can't bring in Mo until at least the 8th inning. So what is Joe supposed to do?

Don Mack
05-30-06, 08:28 PM
What are the chances that Erickson leaves the game with a lead?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slim and none. I don't know why Torre insists on having a Tanyon Sturtze double on the team to give up leads, issue walks and get hit. Give some younger guy a shot instead of bringing in this relic. It's almost as if Torre wants to conceed this game, especially with the lineup he started the game with.

I will rejoice for weeks and weeks when there is no more Torre to screw the team up.

fredgmuggs
05-30-06, 08:28 PM
Don't blame Jeter for losing this game (because they aren't going to lose this game). And besides, I'm sure Sam will find a way to spin it so its all Torre's fault.;)

Hangs his breaking pitch or gets the fastball in the wrong spot. Farnsworth can throw about as hard, and anyone can turn around a 99 mph fastball down the middle...well, most major leaguers can.

He does have excellent stuff, though. I can do without the theatrics when his team is trailing, but the stuff is there. Rodney throws well, too. Good, young power pen.

I find it just the opposite. The fact he is young and showes more than the occasional flash of brillinace in the field and at the plate....I find it much easier to accept the brain cramps he has the tendency to show.

I have to go back into the Cabrera thread....He waved at the ball the first week or two...but he is now attacking pitches aggresively.

Zumaya is being used longer than usual according to the Tiger's broadcasters

Much longer...if the Yanks can hold, they can erase him from tomorrow and likely Thursday...leaving Rodney as their power guy out there and shortening their pen considerably.

I find it just the opposite. The fact he is young and showes more than the occasional flash of brillinace in the field and at the plate....I find it much easier to accept the brain cramps he has the tendency to show.

What I also like is that instead of stubbornly refusing to acknowledge such mistakes (a la Soriano), Cano accept them and embraces the challenge to overcome the blips.I am completely behind him, it is just hard to watch at times for me.

I had far greater problems with Sori for the exact reasons you state.

I wouldn't call that failing. It was a great pitch and 99% of the time when a pitcher throws that pitch the pitcher will win. If he swung at something outside I could see it.

gold23

Inconsistent but talented until last year, when he had 199 K's and 101 hits in 151 innings between AA and AAA. Only 21...he should be very good.
