Let's play the "assume" game.

Assuming that Small pitches as well as this (and maybe better--remember, the Tigers have been hitting pretty well before this series) and

Assuming all the pitchers are healthy

Where does Small pitch?

A. No where, we trade him for [insert perceived need here]
B. LR
C.The rotation, in Wright's spot who gets traded for [see above]

I say B.

Jason Grilli in to pitch for Detroit.

The pitcher should have been blamed for that game (I think it was Wang)...and tonight its Small's fault.

Just cuz your defense makes an error, doesnt give the pitcher an excuse to fall apart and give up 2 hard hits in a row.

Can't blame Small for this inning. Yeah, he gave up a few hits, but really only one run is his fault. I will take 2 runs in 5 innings from him. Jeter really killed him.

Disagree. You can't ask Small to get 5 outs in an inning. Especially with the meat of their lineup. If Jeter doesn't rush that play, Small gives up one run at most.

knickfan23

Its not that he lives in Jeter's shadow because that is expected, but its the double standard that's troubling. Jeter can do wrong while A-rod can't do anything right.
