People were calling the White Sox overrated at this time last year too.
Thats my point. All the fans of these teams who want to say that this team is overrated have probably not seen them play one game this season. Just to see what all the hype was about, for the first time, I decided to take in a Tigers game last night against the Indians. Detroit won that game 3-1 last night and they play a crisp error free style of ball. They have the best defense in baseball period. Up the middle, Rodriguez is still good at catcher and their outfielders are fast and take away hits.
Amazingly, for a pitchers park, the Tigers have hit the most homeruns in baseball while their pitching staff has allowed the fewest. We've always said that you can make up for a lack of offense by playing better defense and pitching better.
Last year all we heard was the White Sox pitchers were overrated because they would eventually revert back to their norms. Jon Garland had a career year and Contreras in the second half of the year was the best pitcher in baseball. Garcia was the best road pitcher in the league. And Buherle continued to be a rock. Why cant Dertroit be the same way?

What the hell does Fat Mikey know about playing nine innings? He gets worn out announcing a game if it's over three hours long.

Time will tell, but I for one did not think that the White Sox were overrated, I never thought they would win the series because of their offence but I did believe that their pitching would hold up.
I would be surprised if the Tigers made the playoffs but like I said time will tell.

The Tigers have had the benefit of playing the Royals 8 times already. I'm sure that helps with their win/loss record.

How many points has Stinnett raised his average in the last two games?
There was a reason people called the Whitesox overrated last year. They hold the record for choking away the biggest division lead ever. But once the playoffs came around many of us predicted them to beat the redsox. The Tigers have a long way to go before they can even sniff the whitesox. You have to respect every opponent but don't ballwash when it isn't necessary.
Half over. ;) Now we get to bat.

Yep, a 13 game losing streak was responsible for a 3-run jack of a 4-4 tie in the top of the 8th.

I've read that as a team, they have the highest offensive BABIP and the lowest pitching BABIP for the statistic that is most random of all baseball statistics. If they continue this pace, they would probably be the luckiest team in baseball history. Although, if they play a little over .500 ball for the rest of the season they should at least win the WC anyway with about 95 wins.

How many points has Stinnett raised his average in the last two games?According to SL, he's not at .229. Must've been at .184 before, so that would be .045, if the .184 thing is accurate.

I hate when announcers bring up that "Why is Damon running when its 6-0??" argument.
Umm its the 3rd inning....still alot of baseball left. Its not like its 13-1 in the 8th or something.

Agreed. I guess we should stop trying to hit the ball now, too.

K4E, he're the deal with that. For the Tigers to be a major factor in this, all they have to do is get to 25 games over .500. If you believe that 93-95 wins would be good enough to make the playoffs as a wild card team, then all the Tigers would have play is .500 the rest of the season to make the playoffs.
