Finally blocks the plate...
2 great at bats getting the sac flies in...
Walkoff HR...
can anyone think of a better game Posada has had in his career? I can't.

He also had an incredible ALDS GM 4 last year. I think he threw out 2 Angels in one inning.
He has had ton of big games, but this one has to be up there.
Who needs A-Rod & Shef, we got our new clean up hitter :)
Actually didn't he clean up during the '96-2000 years? Or maybe he was 5th...

I think Bernie was batting 4th during those years.
I forget his line for the night but ALCS Game 7 2003 will always be the defining Posada moment in my mind. Him standing on second screaming like a madman after tying the game off of Pedro.

i believe he cleaned up during parts of 2003 (his best offensive year)...also finished third in MVP voting that year
As for tonight's game, I'd say its definately up among his top all-time performances...but like another poster said, my favorite memory will be game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, and his hit off pedro...that said, awesome game by Jorge....he's off to a great start this year

With all this talk on why isnt ARod clutch and Is Jeter the most clutch person in the lineup? I think Posada, right now, has to be the most clutch. I guess all that talk of posada not being worth the money he's owed this season, has ceased.....................FOR NOW.

I don't believe in clutch hitting, but Po game up big when it mattered the most, no question.

My memory is shoddy, but I think some combination of O'Neill/Bernie/Tino filled the 3-4-5 spots, usually in that order I think.

That's a cap of his HR? Weird looks like a line drive single off the bat.

That one comes to mind as well...just played a complete baseball game, right down to some smart baserunning.

Actually, I think the first cap is just an instant before the ball hit the bat. :)
Here's where the ball ended up ...

Yeah, upon further review, that's what I thought, but his swing and follow through look like that of one produced a single or a double, not a homer. Who cares, all that matters is that it went out. :D
Thanks for posting the caps btw.
Posada had this to say about that play at the plate ...
"Right now, I feel great. Back then, I didn't feel too good about it," Posada said. "It's the hardest I've ever got hit. I know if I drop the ball, he would be safe. But he was not going to get the plate. I had it blocked. I never played football in my life, but that's what I think it feels like." http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/recap/MLB_20060516_TEX@NYY

Well, 14-13 IS a football score ... Thanks to Jorge for not letting them kick the extra point!
Here's another shot of that walk-off HR ... this one shows the ball in the act of flying OFF the bat.

Good thing he blocked the plate... Otherwise, his shot would have been for a tied game only... :D
Great game for Jorge :) Way to come through big!

I'm so happy I stayed up for the game and saw the ending. What a great game it was. I'm thrilled for Posada. He said it's a game he won't forget. Yeah Jorge!

He and Bernie hit 2Hr's each in the same game once -- both from each side of the plate. That was impressive..

Tino hit cleanup the majority of the time.
That has to be one of Jorge's best game, but aas someone mentioned earlier, I will always remeber Jorge standing on 2b screaming in game 7 2003 ALCS.

Yeah it was definitely a great night for Jorge. I hope he enjoys this day in the sun.
I love the rbi's, the walkoff HR but as everyone else mentioned, he BLOCKED that PLATE!

Tonight was likely his best total game performance, but I have to agree, the hit off Pedro and his reaction are burned in my memory like the home runs by Bucky and Boone.
He must of had many good games in 2003. He was 3rd in MVP voting that year.

Dunno if you can say best...I loved his performance in the 2003 ALCS Game 7, and 2001 ALDS Game 3, where he provided the solo homer for the win as well as the play at the plate (Jeter's infamous flip). Those playoff moments, to me, are worth more than the regular season. He's had a lot of great games, but this one's definitely up there for regular season games.

By The Way, Did anyone look more excited than Larry Bowa?
And Jeter and A-Rod looked like tag team wrestlers jumping the top rope when the ran onto the field.

Bowa and Pena bring an O'Neill-esque intensity to this club for as much as coaches can. That's something that has been missing for a while.

I think the title of this thread should be 5/16/06 - since we don't know how good his 5/17/06 game will be.

This was definitely a huge game for Posada! But as others have mentioned he's had other games when he came up big so I'm not sure that this is his best game ever. The walk-off homerun was awesome, but I love that Posada blocked the plate!
Top five game for Posada for sure, but Jeter's 4 for 5 with a HR and 4 RBI's was huge.

jorge, there are probably 2 or 3 hits a week in the entire NFL that equal the type of hit you just absorbed. my hat's off!!!

And they have a lot more armor than Jorge was wearing. I love Jorge, I hope Joe keeps getting him rest like he has been doing so he doesnt look too tired too soon

their enthusiasm is great.. i think some base runners actually get irritated with pena sometimes.. he starts shaking them and is excited as hell after a hit.. it's kind of funny..

You know, having a little more O'Neil-esque intensity would be great for this club. Bringing a little "true Yankee" spirit into our club would really make this year's team great!
Just thinking about it right now, Otsuka made a big mistake throwing a 3-1 fastball on the outside corner. If he walks Posada it puts the winning run on base, but Posada is slow enough that he doesn't score on a double anyway, and much more importantly, the quality of hitters coming to bat drops of SIGNIFICANTLY after Posada. I would have stayed away from a fastball.

I don't know about his best regular season game, but it was a great one.
Some other great Posada performances:
3-4 with 2 HR, 5 RBI on 6/28/2002
2-5 with 2 HR, 6 RBI on 3/31/2004
3-4 with 2 HR, 5 RBI on 6/2/2001
4-5 with a HR, 4 RBI on 5/5/2000
4-5 with 2 2B, 4 RBI on 8/4/2000
3-4 with 1 HR, 7 RBI on 9/10/2003

I definitely agree with that. For me that will be Posada's most memorable game.
That said, he had a helluva game last night. To answer the thread question, probably 2nd best game of his career.
