</td></tr></tbody></table><!-- T9407823 for MLB_20060430_TOR@NYY -->The New York Yankees stopped Gustavo Chacin's fast start in 2005.
They will try to do so again Sunday when they play the Toronto Blue Jays in the deciding game of their series at Yankee Stadium.
Chacin (4-0, 5.11 ERA) is trying to become the first Blue Jays pitcher in franchise history to win his first five starts of a season. The left-hander won his first three starts last season before losing to the Yankees in his first-ever start against them on April 21, 2005.
This season, Chacin posted one of his four wins against the Yankees (12-10), though he was reached for five runs and seven hits - including two home runs - in six innings of Toronto's 10-5 victory April 18. The southpaw ended a personal four-game losing streak to New York with the win and improved to 2-4 with a 4.66 ERA in six lifetime starts against the Yankees.
Chacin may be hard-pressed to remain unbeaten, as the Yankees are coming off their best offensive performance of the season in a 17-6 rout Saturday. Johnny Damon hit two homers and scored a career-high five runs for New York, which is trying to win its fourth consecutive series at home.
"It's got to be my best game here," said Damon, who will play at Boston for the first time as a Yankee on Monday. "Not a bad time to get things going."
Damon has drawn a walk in five consecutive games and has hit safely in seven of his last eight.
Yankees right fielder Gary Sheffield is questionable for this game after his fifth-inning collision with Blue Jays first baseman Shea Hillenbrand. Sheffield, who was running out what became an infield single, left the game with a briused left knee and right wrist, while Hillenbrand also left in the fifth inning for a CT scan after being hit in the back of the head.
"Sheff is OK. His wrist is a little sore, so we'll have to see how that is tomorrow," Yankees manager Joe Torre said. "It was just a scary thing when you see those two big bodies merge."
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons is less sure about Hillenbrand, whom the manager noted was dizzy.
Jason Giambi added a home run and drove in four runs for the Yankees, and is 8-for-16 with three homers, 13 RBIs and eight walks in his last six games. Giambi has drawn 25 walks in 88 plate appearances.
"I'll take it, especially after the way I started off last year," said Giambi, who batted .224 with three homers and six RBIs in April 2005. "It's exciting to get going."
Mike Mussina (3-1, 2.45) has emerged as the most consistent starter in the early part of the season for the Yankees. The veteran right-hander has pitched at least six innings in each of his five starts and won his last two by limiting opponents to two runs and 11 hits while striking out 14 in 13 1-3 innings.
Mussina won at Toronto on April 19, conceding just one run and seven hits in 7 1-3 innings. He is 10-4 with a 3.68 ERA against the Blue Jays while pitching for the Yankees and his 19 lifetime wins against Toronto are second only to his 20 versus Minnesota.
Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells has enjoyed some success against Mussina, going 14-for-44 (.318) with two homers and eight RBIs. Wells has hit safely in nine straight games, going 15-for-38 (.395) with four homers and 13 RBIs.

The fact is when you have a player like Manny who is a joke as an outfielder, you can deal with it just because you know the man is going to put up incredible numbers offensively. There is not, however, any way in hell you can argue the merits of playing Bernie in the outfield to get his bat in the lineup.

Cmon offense, Moose doesn't deserve another loss for a well pitched game.

This is probably his best and last chance to win 20 :(

Moose gets squeezed like no other pitcher I've EVER seen. Unreal.
He really does seem to get squeezed more than other pitchers.

Yeah, cause he's a finesse pitcher. This ump is just...horrible.

I havent seen Moose so emotional after the strikeout before . He seems mad at the ump .
