there was a ground ball to short by Jete, SS flipped it to the 2nd baseman for the force but the 2nd baseman only had it in his glove for a second before he dropped the ball. Unfortunately, the umpire was looking from behind the 2nd baseman and didn't see when the ball was dropped. He ruled that the guy had the ball long enough to count for an out. Bad call.

The ump said the 2B was taking the ball out of his glove, but its the 3rd Out! There was no DP trying to be made. Why would he be taking the ball out of his glove??

Leiter is saying what an awful call it was. Said the ump is trying to say he dropped it when transferring it from the glove, but with 3 outs there was no need for a transfer to throw to another base.

Joining in from work - thanks all for keeping us up with the game. Does it seem to anyone else that there have been so many bad calls against the Yanks so far this year that we should be getting a lot in our favor later? (or else the umps have it in for us...) I hate having to root against Lily!

If I was Torre I'd seriously go off on him. I'm fed up as a fan and I'm ready to burst, I dont know how he, as the manager of the team who's results are a direct reflection of himself, does not want to rip the umps' heads off. Dirt should be flying, mouths should be foaming and Torre should be getting tossed from this game right now.

That's the type of call that I'd like to see a real erruption from a manager or coach about. Not only does it cost a run, it takes the bat out of one of your best hitters hands with the bases loaded.

Matsui held up at third on the single by Cano and the throw in got Posada in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd. Matsui eventually "scored" but given this umpire crew's record, they might take it back.
