JeffWeaverFan
04-11-06, 02:54 PM
Is Kay stupid... Matsui bats better against lefties anyway, and other clubs know this.
Matsui is about the same for his career (might be slightly better agaisnt rightys for his career). Last year he was better against leftys than rightys, but the previous two seasons he was better against rightys than leftys. And, other clubs continued to bring out LOOGY's to face Matsui all last year.
3rd times a charm. If we can't do something with bases loaded this time... then I don't even know what to say...

Throw some names out there then that would've cost the same. Or are you arguing we're not spending enough. I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, I'm really asking because I was happy with the pen help we got.
I would say you are in the minority in reference to the pen. Money isn't the issue. Farnsworth, IMO, could be considered an equal to Gordon, without the experience. Villone is an injury waiting to happen, same with Dotel, same with Sturze.
Myers and Farns were both good gets. It is the middle inning relief that I think was neglected, I guess you can argue Villone, but I don't see it.

To be honest, the crop of relievers this offseason wasn't unbelievably impressive. With teams like the Yankees and the Red Sox buying up all the free agents they can, other teams in baseball have started adapting, signing young players to long-term deals and locking up their talent while it's hot.

sheff still looks awful at the plate, he has struck out a lot more then usual
Yeah... I think we'll see Giambi in the 3 hole tomorrow and move Sheff down to 5.

man sheff looks HORRIBLE out there
Sheff needs to move in the order. He's struggling in the third slot.

Good to see that everyone came in off the ledge...
And I guess jeter is anything but clutch, right posters?
Its 7 games in people....
Don't you know that there's no such thing as clutch?

Talk about buzz kill, I'm sitting here at work listening on the radio, and I hear "There it goes.... it is high" **ring** "it is far..." **ring** "it is gone!" **ring** -- damn phone. You want to see snarky? You should have been the person who was calling me at that moment...

I would be surprised if that happened. Torre says he wants to keep this lineup for a while. I hope to see A-Rod moved up the the 3 spot and Giambi to the 4 spot.

In the 8th inning with two outs? It could be spring training and no matter what one thinks, that player wants to win. That player just happened to be Derek Jeter. Don't hate on him, brother. :D

Sheff needs to move in the order. He's struggling in the third slot.He is in as big a slump as I can recall in his time as a Yankee. A move down might help him.

Giambi's been improving lately, but he's still struggling also. At least he's showing more plate patience, though.

By the way, if this holds, it will be the 2nd year in a row DJ hit a game winning HR in the home opener. Of course last years was a walkoff.

I agree with this 150%. Damon, Jeter, Arod, Giambi, Sheff, Godzilla is what I would like to see.
They're stiiiilllll chanting. DEREK JETER!

I highly doubt it...it's impossible to tell...but one would hope he has loyalty to the other 24 in that clubhouse.
The strikeouts are alarming though
Come on guys. Let's roll 2 on sweeney.

well if that's his strategy, he's not getting that 07 option. Could be that his age is catching up to him.
