Joe Torre was pitching? Is there any way he can pitch in Wright's place against the Twins?

If I didn't know who he was I'd pretty much assume he was either gay or a Ray Liotta look alike

If he is.... He certainly is hiding it well with that very, very hot wife of his! He just looks like a regular guy to me... Which is pretty cool....

It disturbs me greatly how much he looks like Harry Hamlin.

Somewhat, but more like cousins than brothers:

I gotta love Johnny no matter where he is. Even though he's on my wife's team now. :(

I must admit, I was never too crazy about him before but now, well, he kind of grows on you. Funny how your opinion of a player sometimes changes when he joins your team. ;)

LOL! Aren't pro athletes contractually required to have 'hot' wives? I doubt Bea Arthur would make a really convincing beard.
I don't think he's hiding anything, but do wonder if he's got self-esteem issues since he's forEVAH going on and on about how the Yankee players kept calling him over the off season. I'm sure there were a few courtesy calls but just can't picture Jeter, Shef, and Matsui for instance, burning up his celly like lovesick teen girls.

Atleast he stays in the family. ;)
When I called him a "switch hitter," I was really alluding solely to the fact that he batted from both sides of the plate on 53rd Street ... ;)

The more I see pics of him, the more it hits me how friggin well-built he is. The guy has to be a beast in the weight room.
Geeze, I probably sounded very feminine in that statement :dunno:

Oops...he will be on Wednesday, April 26th on Martha. I guess she can't be all bad...she's a huge Yankees fan!
She also said that she used to babysit for Yogi's kids...friends with Phil Rizzutto!

Eh, turned out Martha cooked while Johnny stood there in an apron and answered questions. He was on for about half the show, though. Not bad.

And I watched it while on the treadmill at my gym. All those years of boxing lessons and practicing for sports, and now I'm watching Martha Stewart with a bunch of yentas at the gym.
Episode summary: Johnny comes out (that's not a pun, that's a stage direction) to a fawning Martha, who goes on for eternity about how she saw him at Opening Day and always tries to go to Opening Day, blah, blah, blah. She said she waved to him at the Opening Day game and it seemed like he smiled back at her. Johnny says he did in fact notice Martha in the stands and intentionally smiled at her. Yentas in the Martha audience hoot and holler.
Johnny, who acts like he just stepped out of a smoke-filled van at a Grateful Dead concert, gives his usual Election Day line about how the Yankees do everything first-class and that is the reason why he wanted to come to NY. Martha, who went on for forever about what a great fan she is, doesn't realize that next week's games against the Red Sox are in Boston. She wonders if he will be booed. Gee, ya think? Johnny says he enjoyed playing for the Red Sox fans all those years.
Martha tells Johnny he looks sexy now with short hair, but he also did with a beard and long hair. The yentas in the audience hoot and holler. Before and after pictures are shown.
Johnny's hot wife (finally, a reason to watch this damn show) says from the audience that Johnny is cute either way and she doesn't mind the shorter hair.
They show a pic of Johnny when he was a young boy. They mention his own kids, who are playing sports and speak 3 languages.
Then they start cooking -- Johnny, Martha and Johnny's hot wife. Johnny presents Martha with an interlocking NY apron. Yentas in the audience hoot and holler. Martha has Johnny sign it and tells him what a nice signature he has. Realizing that the hot wife is on stage, too, Martha tells her that she can sign the apron later. Martha asks Johnny if he likes to cook. He says he does. You wonder, does the Yankee centerfielder make a tasty lobster fra diavlo? Is Thai cuisine a specialty he learned from his mom? No. He tells Martha he likes to grill steaks and burgers. While the three of them make some dish on stage, Johnny takes questions from the audience. The usual, how does it feel to be in New York type questions.
They come back from commercial break and Johnny is helping a 9-year-old boy who is a centerfielder and a 10-year-old girl who is a first baseman hit off a tee into a net. Stay balanced hit the ball on the top inner half, blah, blah, blah. The boy hits the ball into the net and Johnny says he feels threatened by the 9-year-old centerfielder who lives in New York. Then Santa Damon flips autographed balls to all of the kids in the front of the audience.
Then, finally, I got back to some quality programming: MTV's "Date My Mom."
Thanks for the synopsis ML! It was very entertaining!
