Hopefully the Yankees can finally end their slide and start their winning ways. A-Rod and the majority of the Yankees have had success against Colón in the past, so hopefully they can keep padding their stats against him. I for one am glad that I don't have to stay up late tonight watching the game.

oops, must have been a few seconds later with my thread than the other (i refreshed the gt forum before i hit submit post)... can someone merge the two game threads? thanks
In a perfect world, Torre would have assembled this sort of lineup:
Damon cf
Jeter ss
Matsui lf
A-Rod 3b
Sheffield dh
Giambi 1b
Cano 2b
Posada c
Kevin Thompson rf

Alright, now I'm getting pissed at Torre. What the hell is going on with starting Cairo at 1B? Give Phillips a chance! He had a great spring training and now Torre's not even giving him a chance.
Secondly, stop batting Matsui behind Giambi! Move Matsui ahead of Jason until Jason proves he can start hitting again. Heck, why not put Matsui in the 3 hole and Sheffield in the 5. Torre's logic this season with the lineup is starting to scare me.

Cairo (.125/.211/.188): 2 for 16, 1 2b, 2 rbi, 2 bb, 1 k
Plus, if phillips is "only" good at hitting fastballs, why not put him against colon who throws primarily fbs.

It's not too late to fire him now and change the lineup.
Maybe Miggy will come through. Or maybe Colon will implode. Positive thoughts, a solid outing from Moose, no more defensive blunders and execution at the plate PLEASE!!

We're still going to win today. But none of it changes the fact that Torre has nothing to offer this team anymore. Time for the organization to turn the page and get on with a new regime. The Dynasty's over, it's been over for years now. Time to say "Thanks" and "bye" to Torre.
Again I'll write this.
I do not think Torre should be fired. I think Torre should be promoted. He should become the Vice President and Best Friend of the General Partner.

Maybe that explains why Joe Girardi just took his only good hitter - Miguel Cabrera - out of the game for a pinch runner in the top of the 8th of a tied game. The PR did not attempt to steal a base and the cleanup hitter was lucky to get only a force at 2nd instead of a double play. I have no clue what Girardi was thinking.

Torre should still be fired immediately after the game.
Why? For pushing the right buttons?
Here's why I think he's doing this:
Cairo is a veteran, not a nervous rookie. Phillips isn't as young as most rookies, but he has the same amount of experience. We need someone who is going to be calm under pressure today to help to jump start this offense, and Cairo should be better at that than Phillips will be.
He also brings some extra speed to the lineup, which might come in handy today.

How can you assert that Phillips is a nervous rookie? Miguel Cairo at first is not an upgrade over Andy Phillips regardless of how much time he has in the game. It is the typical Torre "my guys" move that has saddled us with Bernie in that damn lineup everyday and Sheffiled locked into hitting 3rd regardless of production.

It appears that for every bad break we get, the Sox get 2 good breaks. It was a legit 1 to 1 game them an error scored a run and the next inning the bases get loaded on walks then with 2 outs Millar makes and error and 2 more runs have scored for now.

ZYanks, do we have a number set as far as making the playoffs/ and or winning the division.
I've set my own personal number at 100, but I think that will be necessary. Is 97 in the vicinity?
Dude, I have no idea. I dont think Boston is gonna get over 93-95 wins, Toronto isn't impressing like I thought they would, I'm gonna stick around 95 again this year, I think that's a safe number, I dont see Boston winning more than that.

Try this.
Choose any game on the MLB.com Media Center schedule. Let the game play for 10 seconds. Then, click on the Yankees game. You may see a white or black screen show up indicating a change in the feed. Very quickly now, right click on you mouse and choose back while the empty screen is being shown. This should trick the media feed into giving you the Yankees game.
Let me know how this works. I discovered it last year and I couldnt believe how easy it was. Now, I can watch Cubs and White Sox games without having to do anything extraordinary.
