Sucks for Sheff as his slump continues, even though he hit that hard.
I don't worry much about a ST slump from Sheff. His slumps don't really last long and when he breaks out, he breaks out big.

they dont show up on MLB.com right now so what you have to do is change the date in the link.. then put the away teams initials first, then hom teams initials second.. and 10-15 min or later GameDay should be there.. It's a little difficult though..

what happened to cano after his hit?
Cano got clipped in the face/helmet by the throw to first. He looked fine just a bit shaken up but they took him out anyways.

Escalona got hit by pitch, then Reese knocked a single. Howard just hit a double scoring Escalona, men on 2nd and 3rd Matsui up.

gameday is pretty slow in their reporting, guy at the keyboard must be drinking lots of beers or something.

That's fine with me - I don't care about the Marlins but its always fun when a rival team trades away prospects that turn out to be good players. Especially with how Boston fans soured on him post-trade.

Hard to say. He is throwing a no hitter but they are swinging the bat at everything. He is throwing strikes thats for sure.

I just think that the larger catalyst in the Beckett deal was the Sox' ability to absorb Lowell's contract.

Would love it if Wright salvaged some value with innings out of the bullpen. He has to use Small's minor injury to regain Torre's trust.

Baseball America rates him as our 19th best prospect. He's a bit old but they say that he's a good enough hitter to be in the majors. His defense though is not good and he projects as a utilityman. I wonder if he would have been a better option than Cairo.
What happened to Cano? Is the injury serious? (at work, and only caught bits and pieces)

actually lucky is kind of relative. think about it, there are probably 10,000,000 folks who live in southern spain, do you think they're all lucky?

and that sheffield still can't buy a hit... strange
i have the feeling sheffield was psychologically tweaked if not "damaged" by the whole "pick up your option" thing. his statements to the press, after the first cashman meeting and then the press's oversophisticated reaction, were kind of sad. "nobody screws with G.S. and gets away with it,etc." . very defensive. thus sad. just my opinion.

Sheff just needs to get his cuts in. The ST results don't matter to me in terms of average, etc.
The Interview with Joe Girardi was great! Im soo glad to see him as a Manager!
He deserves the best as he seemed very knowledgeable when he was in the broadcast booth a few seasons ago & I know he was a great asset to Torre as last years bench coach which I think was a great stepping stone to becoming the Marlins Manager..
Was a Great Game the banter between Paul & Joe as old teammates was great too!
