What system do you like better between XBox and PS2? I have a GameCube, but the two games that I really want, NCAA March Madness and NCAA Baseball, aren't available on the GameCube platform. It seems like the GameCube is being fazed out. So I want some opinions on the other two big systems. Graphics, controllers, memory card, loading times, etc. I plan on buying either the XBox or PS2 on Wednesday. I do realize that the XBox 360 is out, but that's way too expensive for me right now, and I figure that the graphics and gameplay on XBox and PS2 are pretty darn good anyway.

You'll probably have to talk to someone who has both. Usually, whichever system people own will tend to swear by it.

I have had Xbox for two years now and enjoy it. If you're an online player, despite that Xbox costs more(online), I have heard more good things about online play from Xbox.

PS2 :D

However, if you're technically inclined, you can buy a harddrive for the xbox and mod it so you burn games to the hard drive... my friend has an xbox w/ just about every xbox game, and superNES game known to man.

I've been doing some reading about the two systems, and almost everybody says that Xbox has better graphics. Plus, there's no need for a memory card.

PS2, not even close.

Typically, that's probably true, but I have a PS2, and although I have no gripes about it whatsoever, from what I hear the X-Box is better. I've played X-Box only a little, and the graphics do seem better, but for an overall view, I can't comment on the X-Box.

Also, I don't play online at all, so I can't comment about that.

Like I said, I have no gripes whatsoever with PS2. I love my PS2 and don't regret buying it at all, but if I had to do it again, I might go with X-Box.

PS2 has great games and alot of them are pretty cheap. But the thing wit the X-Box is that it becomes an ultimate machine when modded. I have mine modded and it has around 60 games loaded onto the hard drive and emulators for all the classic systems likes SNES and Genesis plus all their games. It costs a bit to get all that put on though, you have to know someone who can do it.

I owned both for several years before i gave them away earlier this year. The graphics are definitely better on the XBOX, and not needing a memory card was pretty convenient too. I had a PS2 first, and once we got the Xbox, the PS2 was rarely used, even though we still bought games for it.

The biggest complaint about the XBOX was the rather large controllers that come stock. They took some getting used to. We eventually bought difference controllers that were smaller and closer to the PS2 controllers.

I don't know about now, but when I bought the Xbox, you couldn't use it to play DVD movies withtout buying the DVD controller kit. The PS2 worked as a DVD player right out of the box.

I never got into online gaming, so I can't really comment on either service.

It's true, but I still love PS2 more. I'm not really a fan of Halo or junk like that, so everything I need is on PS2. Just me though.

The fact that Metal Gear and GTA come out first on PS2 makes it better than X-box. Also the Playstation controller is the best game controller ever imo.

According to Wikipedia, they've redesigned the original controller for the X-Box. It's smaller now, so it's easier to hold. Also, I have a DVD player in my room anyways, so that's not a factor.

I'm greatly leaning towards the Xbox, so I think I'll just get that. Along with NCAA Basketball, NCAA Basketball, and probably NHL 2006. Also, does anybody know of any cool car racing games besides NASCAR? Those are always fun. Something along the lines of Sega's Out Run.

How can your preferences for specific games make it a "fact" that one machine is better than the other?

In any event, hardware-wise there is no contest - XBox. PS2 is ancient and that IS a fact. However, Sony has a much bigger game library. Although with more and more games being made for all the platforms, I can't imagine this being that big a deal. And a bigger library doesn't necessarily mean better.

I guess at the end of the day it all depends on whether you want to play GTA or any other PS2 specific titles. If you don't care, XBox is the better option.

Soooo anyway, XBOX definitley is the graphically better system, but I personally find PS2 much better.

As for their sequel systems, I have no clue.

I love my PS2. I'm used to the controller and gameplay. Plus online play is free, whereas Micro$oft charges for it on Xbox.

Well if you are going to get a system right now, get Xbox. Same games as PS2 basically, better graphics and cooler features on the PS2 games that were released on XBox (such as ripping your own soundtrack on GTA games and no load time). And if you are worried about the controllers, they are the ones that they've released for the past 4 years are the same size as the PS2 ones

If I was stuck in a room w/ 3 other people for the rest of eternity w/ a TV and a choice of a game system, I'd have to get the XBOX... for one reason only: FUSION FRENZY, probably the best multi player game ever.

If you're not hooked on one system's proprietary games (Halo, Gran Turismo, etc) then it's a toss-up. I bought Xbox b/c all I play is sports games, and it has a good product for downloading rosters (vis Xbox live until I quit that, and Action Replay which hooks up you your computer). Also doesn't need a memory card, and custom soundtracks in games are pretty cool.

What MLB games are available for Xbox right now? I saw a commercial for MLB '06, The Show, but I think that's only for Playstation.

All I play is sports games. I'm not interested in anything else. I never play online either.

I've played plenty on both. My pick is the Xbox.

Weird I have the same exact problem.

I like both equally and as someone mentioned they do have smaller xbox controllers. The original ones were ridiculous...how the hell could something like that actually go to market?

I might take chan's suggestion re: the hard drive and run with it, that sounds real cool.

I love that aspect. My roommates and I used to get uh..."influenced" and just play 1080 to our fav. music for hours and hours.

by the way, 26, i think you mentioned NHL 06. I have it for gamecube...fun for a little while, but it's bullsh*t that you can't fantasy draft for a dynasty/franchise. the only way you can have a fantasy draft is if you're going to do a single season. wack.

That sucks. Maybe I'll try the other NHL game that's out.

also, I couldn't find Crosby/Ovechkin & Co. anywhere...or is that standard?

Lundqvist you have to take off Team Sweden's roster and put him on NYR.
