and the defense today has been crappy....2 misplays in the OF by Wells and Griffey, and a booted DP ball by Teixiera

I'm not a big fan of Buck not treating these as serious as possible. If youi want to win there are clearly certain players who would be in the lineup, and certain players at certain positions.
I do understand that everyone needs to get in their work, and originally, I myself, would have liked these to be treated like exhibition games.....but after seeing a few of these they are very competitive, and I want the US to win. =P Plus I have a feeling it won't bode well for the WBC, as far as popularity, if the US team goes out in the first round.

There is no way that even if by some act of god the U.S. wins this and makes it far into the tournament, they beat a team like Venezuela or the Dominican Republic.

Loewen isn't really a no name player. He is a really highly touted prospect on Baltimore and has some sick stuff. Granted he is incredibly young and in the lower levels, but he is a big time prospect.

I think this is the reason why this tournament shouldn't be played in March.
You look at this situation and you know exactly what everyone is concerned with when they worry about pitchers getting injured. Whatever pitcher coming in from this point on is going to do EVERYTHING they can to get outs, even if they are not physically able to.

We are not definitely done if we lose a game... however if you lose a game the only way you can advance is to win a tie-breaker.
In the first round ALL ties will be 3-way ties. It's impossible to have a 2-way tie. (I'm assuming no TIE games)
Also... head to head will be irrelevant, because in every 3-way tie instance each team will be 1-1 vs. the other 2 teams.
It will come down to ERA.
These 7 runs aren't doing us a lot of good.... however, the 0 in the first game was very nice.

We need to score right now
In a three way tie, head to head can't matter, because we've beat Mexico, Canada beat us, and Mexico beat Canada. No team would be able to be eliminated because they would have beaten someone to advance.
So that leaves the next tie breaker - runs allowed by inning. So far, Canada has allowed 8 runs, the US 7. If we score a few more and make this closer, and Mexico score some against them too, we should advance.
Does that not make sense?

In a three way tie, head to head can't matter, because we've beat Mexico, Canada beat us, and Mexico beat Canada. No team would be able to be eliminated because they would have beaten someone to advance.
So that leaves the next tie breaker - runs allowed by inning. So far, Canada has allowed 8 runs, the US 7. If we score a few more and make this closer, and Mexico score some against them too, we should advance.
Does that not make sense?
