A newbie has a Media Guide question
<HR style="COLOR: #999999" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I have tried to get a Yankee Media Guide the past several year to use when I am at spring training and then throughout the season. But the Yankees don't release the Media Guides to fans until the season is over. But other teams allow fans to get Media Guides in season.
Does anyone know why the Yankees don't let the fans to gain access to the guides until the season is over. Thanks

Hmmm, I've seen plenty of Media Guides being sold at the Stadium, Yankees.com and secondary markets (memorabilia shops, ebay, ect) in April of the year the guide represents.
Its possible they don't publish them untill after Spring Training?
Would make sense, TBH....why publish one in March, that's instantly out of date in April? :dunno:
Most teams publish one at the start of spring training so other teams and media have access to the information in it. I have seen media at Legends Field with a new Yankee media guide. I have tried to order one through Yankee Publications and I was told the guides wouldn't be available until the season was over. Why get one then?

I have media guides from 1998, 2000, 2001, and 2003; all bought at Yankee Stadium sometime during the season.

Dude, I wouldn't base availability on the advice of some customer service rep
Just wait untill April and they'll be available. Maybe not at Legends Field but they will be out for the general public to purchase in due time
No,they aren't man! I went through a whole credit card mess last year. I ordered a 2005 Media guide last Feb. to have for spring training. I called in March right before I went to FLA and they said they wouldn't be shipped until April. I said, fine, I can wait.
About the 3rd week of April, I called to check on the status of it. They said, it would be July before they would be shipped. I said that would be unacceptable, could I get a credit back on my credit card. They said yes and I received a credit.
In early October, they put back the charge. To make a long story short, they said my credit card company credited me on my account and not them which was untrue. So they re-charged me. It took me a month to straighten it out with the publishing company and my credit card company
They're sold across the street from the Stadium. I always get mine on Opening Day.
The media guides will include non roster invitees that never make the team but its a tradition for me to pick it up Opening Day. I have them going back to 1986 and Yearbooks back to 78.

I won't swear to it but I'm pretty sure I got mine last year at Legends.
I get mine at the Stadium every year.

I think their is a different type of media guide. And the guides that are sold in the stadium are callled something else. Maybe someone can look into it.

No they're the same.
My advice DON"T ORDER THROUGH YANKEE PUBLICATIONS!
They've been crummy for years, and the sad thing is the quality has gone up but customer relations have been horrid
My advice, just go to a memorabillia stand, don't order off from the Yankee Publication Phone/Online orders
going to a memorabillia stand is kinda hard for a Yankee fan from Ohio.

Information and Record guides. Or something like that. But those are also what the Press get, as far as I know.

I've bought the media guide for years but they are NEVER for sale INSIDE the stadium, not even from the "official" vendors with the carts - for reasons I could NEVER understand.. You buy them from one of the stores across from the stadium. Now if you want to buy that obscenely overpriced "Yankee Yearbook" or better the "Yankee Ad Book" - for $25 bucks - THAT'S available inside the stadium.

It really is obscene what they did with the yearbook.
Does anyone know the telephone number of the store across the street from the stadium?

If this helps anyone. I ordered my 2006 Media Guide at the Fan Forum section of Yankees.com about a month ago and received it in the mail today. 368 pages w/ color..
Hope this helps. Time to go read
