Now that we won't get to boo him at Yankee Stadium anymore (at least in the home uniform), does anyone know if he's retiring or playing elsewhere? His status on the MLB page is listed as <blank> and I can't find any news on him.

As far as I know, he's retiring with an extremely screwed up back.

He'll probably join the AARP softball team. They will have to invent a DL just for Kevin

Whatever he does in the future, I just hope he gets a chance to put his people skills to work. :)

Are you sure it's extremely screwed up? He was pitching (or trying to) with a screwed up back. One would imagine it's a bit worse now. I wonder if MLB.com has any sound bytes of him crying about it....

Is Kevin Brown still punching walls since he was released by the Yankees?

who cares, as long as he's not wearing pinstripes anymore.

Hopefully he'll hook up with the RS.

Ooohh, I'd love to see this signing. Low risk, high reward...

What a way for a once great pitcher to leave the game. I gues$ he's busy in the counting house.

Like others, I'd prefer Boston.

I really hated Kevin Brown when he'd f*** up on such a monumental level for us. But over the winter break, my back went from a minor nuisance to a severe chronic problem. Honestly, I can't imagine how it must feel to see a potential HOF career crapped away by a back that just won't cooperate anymore. I'd punch walls too.

Not justifying his actions at all, but with his attitude, his back must have been incredibly frustrating to try and work with. Hopefully it doesn't continue to be a problem in retirement.

Brown was not a good pitcher for us by any means, but I think he is bashed a lot for ridiculous reasons. Brown attempted to help the team when we had virtually no starters by pitching in Texas when he wasn't anywhere near ready to come back. Brown basically sealed his retirement in an attempt to help the Yankees.

I don't want Brown anywhere near the Yankees organization because he is way too volatile of a personality, but if he does continue to play I hope he has success in the National League and against everytime but the Yankees.

If he has a chance to beat the Red Sox and Mets that would be nice.

Definitely not a ridiculous reason.

I agree with Ryan on this one. I thought it was very stand up of Kevin Brown to come back and pitch that game in Texas. Carl Pavano wasn't there to pitch, was he? Brownie was horrible this year, but he did give it as all, as sad as that is. He had that nice 4-game stretch for us, too. I'm not sad to see him go, but I have to give him all the credit in the world for giving everything he had to try to help save our season. Glass Jaw Pavano could learn a thing or two. Oh, f you for Game 7, by the way, Brownie. Just to not let this turn into too much of a love fest.

I heard the next thing that Kevin Brown is doing is fulfilling a colonics appointment. I guess he wants to feel cleansed. No wonder his back hurt so much....
