God bless you - I cannot imagine turning my oven on! Just cooking on top of the stove is incredibly hot in my house. JP went fishing today and then made me dinner...fresh caught fluke, breaded and lightly sauteed, with rice and broccoli/cauliflower/carrot mix. YUM! :)

Pizza :)
Went to Ruby Tuesday's before the game. Their crab cake dinner was pretty tasty - served with steamed broccoli and brown rice with chopped tomato, peppers and melted cheese.

The beauty of central air.
I was just saying to my husband when we took the dog out a little while ago--if we didn't have central air, this is the type of night that we'd be out doing night swimming.
It's really sort of a shame. I miss those days when I was a kid, when the whole neighborhood was out, and we were in the pool until we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore.
I want my childhood back...

I want my childhood back...
I want mine, too. I miss the days when my biggest worry was what I'd have for lunch, and not when I had to worry about debts, bills piling up, and if I'll ever get to own a house. I'd give almost anything to be a kid again.

My mom used to make prickly pear jelly. We'd go outside and pick the prickly pears from cacti that were in the desert right by our house. My parents moved from that house a year ago (after living there for approximately 35 years), but for most of my childhood it was a little neighborhood in the middle of nowhere. Recently subdivisions with ugly, cookie-cutter houses have sprouted up all around it, and the desert where we picked the prickly pears is gone. I hardly recognize the area when I drive down there now. And....I don't know why I'm mentioning all this in the dinner thread. Talk about random.

(and I mentioned the purchase of crockpot to the Mrs. and she said... "we already have a crockpot in our inventory of unused kitchen gadgets and appliances". So, there you go.)

We're actually rocking the crock tonight - I put in country ribs with onions and Ken's Honey Teriyaki sauce/marinade. We'll have rice and steamed snow peas with that, whenever I feel inspired to make them. JP is working till 10-11 tonight, so I have to eat before he gets home - I'm just rather uninspired to do so.

Went to a late afternoon Jack & Jill shower so no cooking tonight. The menu included hotdogs with an incredible topping I would have never thought of using on a hotdog...
It was a mixture of Major Grey's Mango Chutney, red onion, dijon mustard and fresh cilantro. I would never have thought this could possibly taste good on a hotdog but WOW it was good!

Bub, those tomato sandwiches sound so good. I have a tomato plant in a pot on the deck but the tomatoes are small. Larger than cherry tomatoes, but not much. Maybe golf ball sized. I don't know if they are mutants, or they are supposed to be that size.

Shrimp scampi...all I tasted was paprika.
