It's a bit of a stretch to say that MEL ruined Gooden's career. Unless Mel was Doc's dealer, I'd say he gets a pass on that one.

ya. hence the word "helping."
I agree that Doc was his own worse enemy but I am not a big fan of Mel since he took a once in a generation flame-thrower and coached him away from that heater.

The Fritz Peterson bio is incomplete - it completely fails to mention that he was involved in the most infamous trade of all time, when he and Mike Kekich traded wives, kids, homes and even dogs!!!
Mr. Peterson and the former Mrs Kekich are still married.
