My did lives close to a state prison in Illinois. The roads are littered with "STATE PRISON NEARBY - DO NOT PICK UP HITCHIKERS". Kinda creepy.

This reminds me of the signs that were posted on Alligator Alley/State Road 84 from Ft Lauderdale to Naples before I-75 was built.

"Warning: $500 Fine For Shooting A Firearm Within 100 Yards Of This Highway" (loose translation...but you get the idea)

Of course, every sign was riddled with bullet holes.. :D
