View Full Version : "FLex" Plan Season Tickets on sale today (1/18)
Well, supposedly at 10am "flex" plan holders are supposed to be able to log in at Ticketmaster and buy our season tickets this year.
I clicked on "Log In" on the site there 10 minutes ago and it is still churning and has not let me through.
Given how fast Opening Day tickets sold out in the regular sale, I am not hopeful for this time!!

And of course "all circuits are now busy" when you try to call the ticket office. Argh. So much for the instruction: 'If you have any problems accessing your "My Yankees Account," please contact the Yankees at (718) 293-6000.'

I've logged in and gotten to the page where you select games (they are only letting you get 1 game for each Boston series as opposed to the usual two), but I pressed continue on that and it's been loading for about 15 minutes

ummm... i got to the page where it says build your own plans and i hit select and it came back and said "no tickets available for this event". uh - what?
WEll, I got through to the ticket office after several minutes on hold and was told "Well, it's on, so just wait. It's working very slow, but just wait."
Wow, the ticketmaster system is so overloaded that I opened another browser on anotehr machine, went to the page that leads to the account login page, and just trying to get to the login page took five minutes!
Ha! And when I get to the login page now, instead of the box where it says: "Make the most of your Season Tickets! "My Yankees Account" is your one-stop shop for online account management. Now you can make payments, renew your ticket account, track ticket usage and update your profile all from your own personal online account."
It now says "We are experiencing technical problems. Please try again later"
and when I try to login anyway, it gives me an error. I guess I better just keep my eye on the browser that is hung, and hope it goes through.

this is a complete joke - i finally got into the ticket selection page and there are only 2 dates - 4/11 and 4/12 - everything else says
Wed, // (everything is missing dates)
You are supposed to be able to select up to 10 tickets for each game but only 4 for the "premium games" (Openign Day, Red Sox, Mets, OT Day). And now only one premium game per series, which blows.
Anyone got $5000 to lend me so I can upgrade to the 81 game plan? Jeez.

The game selection page had all the games listed correctly when I got to it. What is happening now is a more recent snafu.
I got the web error page (Page cannot be found, or something like that), after about an hour, and hit the back button and hit "20-game Flex Plans" again, and now I'm waiting again.
I still haven't been lucky enough to even glimpse the fabled Seat Selection Page. Ahh, well, maybe someday ...
P.S., I've just been on the phone with a New Jersey number for Tmaster, and they say most of the problems are with volume.
Gee, now why would there be a problem with volume, when a billion people are all trying for the same thing?

Just got through to the ticket office. This time I got a guy who sounded at least halfway knowledgeable and his answer was "It's just not working right now. Ticketmaster is working to get it going again but if when you try to log in at the left there is says we are having technical difficulties, then it isn't fixed yet. Nobody can buy tickets right now so nobody is getting in ahead of you. It could be 5 minuites, 10 minutes, an hour, we just don't know. Just keep hitting refresh and as soon as the technical difficulties message goes away, you can log in and do your selections."
Also he said the whole thing about being able to pick different amounts of seats for different games is not happening. "We were supposed to," he said "but we're just not doing it."
I have to go to a meeting and won't be able to try again until 3 o'clock. Man, I'm sad. If I don't get Opening Day and the other games I want...
Maybe it really is time to upgrade to the 81 game plan... except that would be approximately 30% of my earnings for the year. Kee-rist.

Thanks for the update. I am really upset about the pick different amt of seats thing, b/c I had the 16 game plan and offering up games to others (who wanted a different amt of seats) was how I was affording the plan. They really do not have their act together.
Thanks again,

Hmmm, I seem to remember posting the following on January 10 in another thread:
"--Is all the information I received accurate? It's a new plan, so I wonder. And the written notice I got seemed to indicate that the number of seats for each game cannot vary between games. It was confusing. The ticket rep said several times that it CAN vary. So who knows.
--Will there still be good seats available if I want to upgrade for some games or take larger groups? If, in previous years, they were putting aside only enough seats to service us Pick-A-Plan people for a couple of seats per game, why would they suddenly have lots more available this year?
--Will their computer system really be able to handle such a big, complex set of transactions all at once, with multiple pricing levels, different numbers of seats, etc.?"
Now, if I could anticipate all this crap, why couldn't they?

Finally I was allowed to log in again just now, and then got past the "20-Game Flex Plan" page, and onto the "Build Your Own Plan" page.
It has buttons for 1 seat, 2 seats, 3 seats, etc., which makes me think you have to pick the same number of seats for all 20 games. That's NOT what the ticket rep I spoke to a couple of weeks ago said.
Oh, wonderful. I got through to the next page, where you actually check boxes for each game you want (with the premium series in separate boxes marked "check one game"), which looks fairly convenient and well organized.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Some of the premium series boxes have the infamous "Wed //" next to them instead of a day and date and opponent. And most of the other games have this, too, so you can't tell what game you're checking. Only some of the April and May games appear at the very bottom.
And now it's saying it's too busy again. Wonderful.
Ooooh, now that's different. Now it's saying this:
"Sorry, the group of plans you have selected is currently unavailable online. Call (718) 293-6000 for more information."
Guess whether or not the line is constantly busy?

process was pretty quick and easy.....except for the 5 hour technical difficulty
WEll, it's now 2:40 pm, I just got back from my meeting, logged into tickemaster, and have selected my games... but when ever I try to "continue" from the game selection page, it tells me, get this:
"We're sorry, but due to the large number of users trying to buy tickets at this time, the system is unavailable. Please try again later."
Gah.
I am so screwed. I got in, picked the games, got seats for all, went through the payment process, then at the very end, right when I had entered my credit card info and clicked to pay, and was expecting information, it told me "Sorry, we cannot process your order at this time." I went back and clicked to pay again, and it says
"ERROR: You are not allowed to make a duplicate payment (same amount, same credit card) in less than 15 minutes."
So now I don't know whether or not I have paid, ordered the tickets, or nothing, or what. Anybody have any thoughts?
I got the "too many users" thing several times throughout the process but eventually I did get through!
What blows now is that I used to get all my seats between sections 1-5 in the tier, and for 2 games I got stuck all the way out in section 22! WTF, guys... oh well. At least I have opening day and OT day.

Well, finally. I got all the games I wanted but spent $350 more than I planned. Every time it tried to select seats I would get sent back to the busy server message. I finally went best available.
Here's a question for the people who have already picked out their games and seats. Aside from seat locations, would you say that you at least got the games you wanted?
I put down a deposit this year and was told that I can not pick games for 2 more weeks! By that time, who knows what the availability will be like...
I'm the guy who got all the way through and then couldn't tell if he'd paid.
I eventually saw a message saying my time had expired and my tickets had been released.
I went back and did the whole thing over again, and ended up with pretty much the same quality of seats that I'd just lost, and the same quality I usually got with my 26-game plan in previous years.
I got Opening Day and Old Timers Day and all the other games I wanted. I bought mostly Tier Reserved behind the plate, with a few further out. One of the Boston games wouldn't let me select anything except Best Available, and it gave me an overpriced Main Box in the outfield for that one.
However, I did try entering "Tier Box MVP" for two other non-premium games, and got very nice seats behind home plate for both games, which is a nice treat. I'd consider doing that next year for a few more games.
I must admit it is nice to know immediately that I've gotten all the games I wanted, and what seats I have. And the online forms were fairly easy to use.
But overall this process has been horrible because of all the volume backups and timing out. If they straighten out these problems, it could be OK in future years.
I just got an email from the Yankees saying the glitches are fixed:
"We notified you earlier that 20-Game Flex Plans could be purchased
beginning today at 10:00 AM on yankees.com. There were technical
difficulties with the online purchase flow which have now been
corrected and you can now log in to make your purchase."

I went on and got my seats. I upgraded all my seats to Tier Box MVP and am quite pleased. I got every game that I wanted. I spent more money than I wanted to (we normally do Tier Reserved) but I was under a crunch to get the tickets because I have another meeting soon but I think it will be worth it. Take out my frustrations at the beginning and the process really isn't so bad!

i wish they told the "grandfathered" season tix holders that they were reducing the # of games from 26 to 20 AND let us know BEFORE the general public sale in December, that instead of 2 premium game vs the mets and sox we can only choose 1 from each.....I was relying on selecting 2 games vs the mets and sox from the package.....if i had known this when the season tix acct holder pre sale AND/OR the general public sale, I would have bought more sox and mets games then!!!

I'm new to the forum, but read with interest the content of this thread. My girlfriend and I have been "G-plan" (26-game) ticket holders since 2000 (before then, we just used to go to games at will, around 20 games a season) until the current ticket-package structure change and, like many here, have to now be Flex-plan subscribers (minus the automatic post-season option). We were stuck in Ticketmaster limbo for most of the day on Wednesday, and when the system did work (however briefly) many of the ticket options were bizarre (getting shifted to "best available" for example unstead of the preferred section we were trying for, before the system reverted to "an error has occurred," etc.). To make a long story short, we got our tickets in our section (Tier Reserved MVP--where our G-plan had been), but needed official help to get them.
Unfortunately, the Ticketmaster system isn't really designed for this level of volume processing at one time, plus, whatever great or small seniority you may have acquired via your ticket plan from previous years is no longer in play (G-plan subscribers who joined in 1999 were grandfathered-in, we didn't make the cut). I remember trying to get playoff tickets in 1997 0r 98 and going through Ticketmaster--and it was as bad (or worse) than Wednesday.
For the last six seasons, we got the seat section location and games we wanted, and every year our seats got a little better. Our flex-plan seats are decent, but not quite as good as they had been--since we would turn in our invoice in December, instead of having our plan activated after the general public has already had access to ticket purchases. We wrote to the Executive Director of Ticket Operations and expressed our concerns, both when this plan was announced, and after experiencing the day of technical difficulties.
I think as fans, we should voice our concerns about this officially. I highly recommend writing or emailing the Yankees, not to whine and gripe, but to illustrate any grievances and suggest improvements. I think the Ticketmaster option was a bill of goods the Yankees accepted, but may not have realized how difficult it would end up being and how much fallout they would have to endure (I recall the ticket office number was busy all day, I can only imagine how much grief they had to endure). Also, this same process is going to begin anew when postseason tickets are made available to Flex-plan holders the day (?) before tickets are made available to the public.

interesting post. just to answer that last question, I've been a 16-game subscriber for a few years, and the pre-onsale for postseason tickets has been available the last two years. Both years, I had no problem getting tickets - I logged on right as they went on sale, and got through for each series on the first try. Assuming they run it the same way as in the past couple years, there shouldn't be any issues with that.
I, for one, don't have all that many problems with this new flex plan. Other than the ridiculous issues they had on Wednesday, that is. I liked being able to choose seats for each game individually, as well as being able to find out what games I got right away.
However, that being said, I had the 16-game package, not the 26-game package, so I'm not losing anything in terms of postseason tickets. I could see how that would be very annoying.

That's the issue right there. I don't mind getting 6 less games and I really love the pick your own ticket deal. I am just pretty pissed off about losing my post-season options. That was the whole reason I got the 26-game package in the first place. And I would totally upgrade my package but I can't really afford and don't really want a full season or the 60 game plan (which only includes mid-week and Sunday games) and the only other available package is the 46 game plan which would be perfect except it is ALL mid-week games. Sorry but I like to go to weekend games. If they had half-season package (around 40 or 41 games) that included some mid-week and weekend games with post-season options I would totally do it.

Are folks feeling like our status as subscribing fans is just bubkis at this point? There's a side of me that would like to believe that if we, collectively, made some sort of plea to the Yankees to reconsider their policy we could get them to backtrack a bit—or at least "fix" this Ticketmaster nonsense.

I got an email this morning telling me to call in between 9 am and 9 pm re: the upgrade I requested. Expecting the usual Yankee ticket office dis-organization, I called in late to work and settled in for a long wait. Much to my surprise, I was on hold for less than 5 minutes. An extremely friendly young man named Steve went through all the available options and found me seats for the Sunday plan. They are exactly where I wanted and saved me over $600. He apologized profusely for all of the problems purchasing my flex plan tickets then gave me his extension number and said to call him directly if I experienced any further problems. After I hung up, I realized I had forgotten to ask when I should expect my credit so I called back and he answered his extension on the first ring!
Needless to say, I am thrilled. And I apologize for a select few of the more obscene things I have recently said about the Yankee ticket office.
TWO POINTS:
POINT #1:
This has been mentioned before, but I'd like to call attention to the Premium Games cutback from this angle:
Sure, if you are like me and had 26 games in previous years, you only lost 6 games this year.
But, if you are further like me in that you always try to attend ALL home games against the Red Sox and the Mets, then TWO THIRDS of the games you lost were against those teams. That's what happened to me.
That's much more of a blow than losing "only 6 games."
POINT #2:
Really more of a question.
Those of us who had the 26-game plan (like me) used to have automatic playoff options -- the right to buy, in my case, two seats per postseason series, or potentially six seats for the whole of October.
Now we've lost that, to be replaced by a playoff pre-sale, the same one that holders of smaller plans have been using for a few years now.
So, that's not a huge deal, right? I'll do the presale, and I'll probably still end up getting seats.
But wait! If I now have to buy one game of each series through Ticketmaster (which runs the pre-sales), what happens when I try to buy more games through Ticketmaster during the regular public onsale? Will my order be cancelled because I've already "bought my limit" during the pre-sale?
Does anyone out there know? How about anyone with a smaller plan? Have you been able to buy postseason tickets through the pre-sale, and then buy more in the public onsale?

Nope, no huge deal... I had the 16 game plan and got playoff seats quite easily last year during the pre-sale.... but it's only 1 game per series - I got tix to both the 1st series and the World Series... which of course I didn't get to go to :-(. Last year was my first year with the plan - so I can't specifically answer that question. I would think that you would be able to do both - the second one is a public sale ... I guess we'll find out ;-).

Last year was my first year with the plan - so I can't specifically answer that question. I would think that you would be able to do both - the second one is a public sale ... I guess we'll find out ;-).

You can do both...I did last year. (Unfortunately, since we didn't make it past the ALDS, it didn't work out so well). The year before they processed one of my pre-sale orders twice and I ended up with 4 tickets to the ALCS.

Care to share steve's extension #?
Any new flex plan people (like me) trying to get tickets today?

I got the flex plan and have yet to receive the thing that lets me pick my games yet. Last year I could have sworn I got it a while before this. Has anyone else received their thing that lets them pick the games?

I surely hope your are kidding. If not, it was all done on-line this year and sales started 1/18 which was the reason for this thread.

I would hurry up and pick those games. Wow. They definitely sent a letter in the mail in early January and sent about 3 emails on the flex plan to account holders from last season. Take c are and best of luck getting the games!!

Whatever happened? Were you able to still get tickets?
I'm a little late. I was going to bump up my plan but now I'm not sure. Just curious if I can get the flex plan and still get decent tix.
A tip for getting through to the ticket office...try calling the 800 number instead of the 718 number. I always have better luck getting through that way.
