Gee, and my cat is jet black.

I better not let her cross my path today.

Chase her under a ladder with a broken mirror.

I grew up on Manhattan's 13th Street...and the apartment building I lived in had no 13th floor.

I couldn't figure that out. :-ponder-: :-werd-:

Lots of apartment buildings and hotels don't have a 13th floor. Superstition. Which technically makes the 14th floor the 13th floor... but don't tell anyone ;)

Quite a few buildings have no 13th floor. Some have a 12A or just go from 12 to 14 w/o an actual 13.

However, on 13th St, that appears to be hypocritical. Why don't they just nuke the whole doggoned block?

Speaking of which, isn't this on the far east side, near Alphabet City? It seems that below 14th St, there's not many more numbered streets, ie, 13th, 12th, 11th, etc.

http://www.painfullycool.cMore than 80 percent of high-rises lack a 13th floor. (http://www.painfullycool.cmore%20than%2080%20percent%20of%20high-rises%20lack%20a%2013th%20floor./)

More than 80 percent of high-rises lack a 13th floor.
Many airports skip the 13th gate.
Airplanes have no 13th aisle.
Hospitals and hotels regularly have no room number 13.
Italians omit the number 13 from their national lottery.
On streets in Florence, Italy, the house between number 12 and 14 is addressed as 12 and a half.
Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue
In France, socialites known as the quatorziens (fourteeners) once made themselves available as 14th guests to keep a dinner party from an unlucky fate.
Many triskaidekaphobes, as those who fear the unlucky integer are known, point to the ill-fated mission to the moon, Apollo 13.
If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck . Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names.

Yes, that's why I thought it was ridiculous. No 13th floor, but 13th Street is okay.

This was at 7th Avenue and 13th Street, by the way. We lived across the street from "Our Lady of the Gay Mafioso," a church that was shared by the mob on Sunday mornings and the gay community on Sunday evenings. :-werd-:

On the West Side, number streets tailed out south of Greenwich Avenue, except for West 4th Street, which turned into what used to be Asylum Street, headed north, and collided with 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th Street, which was good for a laugh.

Triskaidekaphobia is a fear of the number 13.
Paraskevidekatriaphobia is fear of Friday the 13th.

I learned that on Fox news this morning (but had to look up the spelling!) :D

I grew up in Lower Manhanttan in an apartment on the 13th floor. The building was built in the late '60s so, credit progress, I guess. Depending on how I feel when asked, I sometimes say it's why I've had certain streaks of bad luck.

I find it quite amuzing that so many people are afraid of Friday the 13th. I'm a little superstitious, but really only when it comes to baseball. Its not bad luck then, because I'm sure you are all aware that Clemens won his 300th game on Friday the 13th (June 13, 2003)

I'm a bit late but do they still give the movie marathons on TNT or TBS? I remember they had them on Spike TV but I'm not sure if they still do....
