There is a running clock at CBS Sportsline http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/
In 35 days (roughly) depending upon the team. Yanks usually report earlier than most other teams.

Thanks. I figured that was about the date (2/16) but wanted to double check. I'm flying into Tampa that week and wanted to swing by to check them out.

Less then 5 weeks.
Can't wait. :P
A lot of the countdown clocks are counting to when spring training games start, but we know the real deal...
By the way, for anyone interested, the workouts for pitchers and then the full squad that begin the week after are free and open to the public at Legends Field. Get there between 9am and 10am and they typically work out until about 1pm. In some ways it's more fun than when the games are going on!
54 days has to be wrong, its about a month away.
That's until the official start of ST, not pitchers and catchers.

Ahh, you're right. I didnt even think of that when I made the post. I was aware that it was on the 14th but wanted to provide the link to the Legends Field countdown clock. My appologies.

Spring Training is actually one of my favorite times of the whole baseball season...anything is possible, the games are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere, and players and fans can connect for autographs and chatting. I love the footage of seniors and kids just hanging out at the fields, watching this year's "Can't miss" phenom or last year's fading star. It's also where you get to see the new guys (Damon, meet Pythias) mesh with the old crew.

plus it's the only time of year when the yanks can finish with a sub .500 record, 10 games behind the Royals, and Torre (most likely) wouldn't be fired!

Let's count it down right here. It's been a long offseason, but by the time February 14 comes around, the offseason will be over, and it will be this year again.
1 MONTH TO GO!!!!!!!

You know it. I am an empty shell of a man without my Yankee baseball, as I just can't get into other sports, no matter how hard I try. Nothing on TV gives me the enjoyment of a good baseball game.
This Thread title becomes obsolete tomorrow.

I can't wait to see how this new team blends. It will be interesting how Damon, the new dimension to the team, fits into the offense. Much of the season rests on how Farnsworth performs, because without him, the bullpen is in biggg trouble.

You never know.... ;).
One game I'd love to watch (and it definitely is a classic) is the one where the Yankees beat the RS a few years ago by a score of 22-0 or something like that. What a slugfest that was. :)

How is it 54 days until spring training? I just clicked on the Legends Field link and it still says 54 days.
Today is January 15th - Pitchers & Catchers report on Feb 14th. That's 30 days from today.
54 days from today is March 10th - by that date, the Yankees will have played 9 spring training games against other teams, including their first split squad game.
Looks to me like George Costanza needs to be fired for failing to maintain the Legend Fields website.

The Tuesday game is from September 17th, 2004 (Sox won on a few late inning singles against Rivera, Damon getting the game winner) and Thursday's game is from April 5th, 2005 (Yankees won on Jeter HR in 9th)..

From what I've been reading around baseball sites is that MLB is allowing players to arrive early to spring training to prepare for the World Baseball Classic.... so is possible that P & C would be reporting even earlier as well as position players? Anyone know the definite dates, because every site has something different/new.
