Marlins acquire Wilcox from Yankees

PORTLAND, Maine -- The Florida Marlins on Friday acquired minor league outfielder Luke Wilcox from the New York Yankees and assigned him to Class AA Portland of the Eastern League.
Wilcox had been playing for the Yankees' Class AAA affiliate in Columbus where he was batting .150 with two home runs and six RBI in 11 games.
A third-round pick of the Yankees in 1995, Wilcox was picked up by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1997 Expansion Draft and later loaned to the Seattle Mariners. He was released by Tampa Bay in January 2000 and signed again with the Yankees.
Wilcox has a career .275 average in six professional seasons.
