View Full Version : One tv show for the rest of your life

So you are stranded somewhere with a tv, a dvd player, and the complete collection of ONE show. What's it gonna be? Do you pick a sit-com or an hour long drama? Do you go with one that lasted longer simply because it provides more variety? Do you pick something you have never even watched just so it is all new?
I think, if I had to decide right now, I would take Friends. It went ten season, and was good all ten of them. The only other show I would consider is The X-Files, but there are so many bad episodes to go along with the good ones, that the show might annoy me after a few years.
Anyway, what is your one show?

It's a toss up between the Simpsons and Seinfeld, they're the only 2 shows where I can watch the same episodes over and over again and never get tired of them. I love shows like The Sopranos but I don't think I can't watch them again and again.

I tried watching Sex and the City for a few episodes. I wonder what City they live in, cause it sure as hell ain't NY.

I figured there would be quite a few Sex and the City responces. Plenty of episodes to keep you busy and tons of fun.

Hmmmm.....
A toss up between West Wing and 24.
I prolly say West Wing, just because you can watch one episode 5 times in 5 hours, and when it ends after the 5th time, you've still been incredibly entertained, there's always something new to see with that show.

Sex and the City... so good on DVD, I can watch the episodes over and over again. In fact, I watched season six this weekend! :) Jason Lewis is a GOD...
My second choice would be Seinfeld, also good on DVD and the bits NEVER get old.
*Fusilli Jerry- still funny
*Kramerica Industries- still funny
*"Believe it or not, George isn't at home..."- still freakin' funny!

Ok I would say the The Office (UK version) but it is just 12 episodes.
I think 24 and Lost would be great to watch a few times over especially Lost which has a lot of hidden things in it, but it is a drama and I think it would get dull.
Now the Simpsons, no matter how many times I watch them make me laugh every time. Plus there are hundreds of episodes and no end in sight
But if I could pick Yankee games I would because it would be new every day.

Simpsons...it's the longest running show (17 seasons & counting) so it'd take a while to get through them all, and once I did, I'll gladly start over because they're so funny.
Seasons 5-13 are among the best in TV history.

If I couldn't have a lifetime worth of Yankee games on DVD, then I'd have to go with:

Jackie Gleason is a classic.
Strong second - Three Stooges...
Close third - Seinfeld
Firm fourth - Everyone Loves Raymond

It would be a toss up between Family Guy and the Simpsons. I love them both equally. Simpsons probably because there is just so much more there in terms of numbers.

I'd have to agree with all the people who said The Simpsons. There are just so many of them and the enjoyability watching repeats is very high.
My second would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have seen many of those episodes several times and I don't get tired of them. Plus the show is drama and comedy so it gives me a taste of everything.

Friends was my first thought, mostly because they stay funny even after 15 watchings. I think I've picked the X-Files clean, and I'd be bored in a big hurry.
If I could get advance copies all Lost seasons there will ever be, I might choose that.

Actually, I did make a pick, but now that I think about it a bit more I need to know something. Is my wife there with me? It really could make my pick change. A guy gets lonely.
If I'm alone it's gotta be Playboy Night Calls. It's really the only "show" they have. Those two smokin chicks with the ginormous funbags makin out and gettin naked. I'd need that if my wife wasn't there. Otherwise, it's South Park.

That's a tough one because what I'd really like isn't out on DVD but if we're in a "perfect" world where I can get whatever I want then I'd say Hill Street Blues ... if we have to stick with something that's ACTUALLY out on DVD then I'd say Law & Order or NYPD Blue.
Good news is, Hill Street is finally going to be released on DVD at the end of January!

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm, especially Susie (no one says the F word like Susie).
Larry: Nice house.
Susie: Yeah, come on. I'll give you a tour.

The Office (UK version) or The Larry Sanders Show
Office is only a few episodes though.
For just 1 show, it would have to contain the entire spectrum of emotions - laughter, sadness, truth, fiction, drama, romance, thriller and so on. As much as I like Seinfeld, it doesn't contain all of that. Gotta go with M*A*S*H.
