OK, think I've been here long enough to post this ;)
(Please, do not turn this into a religious thread, or it will be closed, OK?)
There is a wonderful program called FFA--Franciscan Family Apostolate which is run by the SFO in India. For $25/month (I think you can give less--not sure, TBH) you can sponsor a family over there. My wife and I have been sponsoring a family since 1998, I think. The first family we had graduated--ie, they became self sufficient :) Our second family is starting to get on their feet. I know $25 doesn't sound like a lot (to us, it isn't, which is why you won't miss it ;) ), but $600 will build a house there for a family (I hope to do that, someday).
Anyway, here are the particulars. I promise you won't regret it. :)
