That is what was rumored that the CWS offered.

Just curious.

Why close a thread that generated 81 comments in a couple of hours.

I realize that most think the concept was absurd, but isn't this a discussion board?

Is the rent being paid on a per post basis?

I also heard a rumor that Santa Claus is really French.

Stop beating a dead horse, everyone thought your proposal was terrible. Drop it and move on.

Most of the comments were sarcastic jabs. It was not a productive discussion. The moderator shut the thread, why beat a dead horse by starting a new one?

Contreras can't pitch here. At least Pavano can redeem himself this year.

Are you kidding me? We all ready had a go with Contreras and he was almost a complete failure. If Pavano is healthy, there is the possibility of a great season. Also, Cano gives that rookie, youthful spark to the lineup. If he continues to improve, he is most definitely capable of putting up good numbers. No way that trade would be good.

OK?

Who wants Contreras? That is what was offered by CWS to Balt for Tejada?

Good question. Let's just say I enjoy taking the impossible position and trying to defend it.

It's called debate. You ought to try it sometime.

If I told you I heard a rumor that the Yankees offered Alex Rodriguez to Boston for David Wells would you believe me? There are dozens of trade rumors out there on any given day, most are false. This is pretty darn certainly one of them.

I wonder how long until Ring sees this one. He's closed two threads and RO'd one person today, yogibuck I'd quit while I was behind.

Look, I've got my pet peeves, and closing merging threads is one of them.

But I wasn't done defending the theory, so I posted again. Since the prior thread was closed, I started a new one.

I just don't see it as being that far-fetched.

I supported it with past evidence of supposedly far-fetched ideas coming to fruition.

So I guess Ring can ban me if he wishes. I guess I'd be some what disappointed but with an exciting amount of time on my hands.

Would this make it to where Tejada might be able to be had for less? Might want to talk about an extension if we use my theory.

There is something extremely important to remember regarding Tejada. As a player traded in the middle of a long-term contract, Tejada can demand a trade after one year. For purposes of illustration, if Tejada were traded to the White Sox, he could demand a trade after one year. If the White Sox don't accomodate him, he would become a free agent on March 15 of the following year. In Miguel's case, the prospect of free agency would be a good one, since he would get a huge raise from the $12 million per year he makes now. So any team that Tejada is traded to will also probably have to negotiate a contract extension with him, or he can demand to be traded after one year.

I don't see where the O's have much leverage. I like that.

It is far-fetched because, as many other posters have pointed out in the locked thread, there isn't a salary dump this time. Randy Johnson was a salary dump for AZ. A-Rod was a salary dump for Texas. Those two trades happened because the Yankees have the resources to take on players with large contracts.

In your scenario, the Orioles would be taking an oft-injured pitcher who had ONE good season. In essence the Yankees would be dumping Pavano's salary on the Orioles and receiving a future HOF in return. Your scenario is not even in the same league as the Johnson trade or the A-Rod trade.

As long as Ramirez/Clement is on the table, we have zero leverage.

Consider it done.
