It was a great year for me. :)

I would've said bad but after what happened in 2004, 2005 seemed average.

I hate being so negative...I'm not usually, but this was a pretty sucky year for me. I had 4 different health issues, none dire, but definitely bothersome. I had to have 3 different procedures done under general anesthesia (never had been put under before!) I've been battling a bad upper respiratory infection for quite awhile now (really bad cough, laryngitis). I just finished the anti-biotic. I'm really hoping that's the end of that.

Professionally, it was also a kick-ass year, for reasons I won't go into. Just totally draining and thankless.

I'm really looking symbolically to a New Year to begin anew. Hopefully good health and also being able to enjoy the lifting of much of the professional responsibilities that caused me so much anguish this year.

On an up note. I have a great man in my life. We're tight and things have been consistently good there. My kids are good. Not in trouble, good students. My daughter got over her "rough patch" (or was that my rough patch?). Financially, I'm doing better than ever before. Not rolling in it by any stretch, but certainly a far cry from the poverty I was in in the early 90s.

Here's to 2006! :gulp:

I went with a little below average. Work interfered with vacations...some hightlights and lowlights. ....I'm hoping for a better 2006.

It would have been considered great if I hadn't lost a dear friend to leukemia in September. However, before that my wife and I had our dream vacation come true with a two week trip to Hawaii and earlier in the year a week's vacation to Disney World with our son and grandkids! Happy New Year to everyone on this site and a healthy and Happy 2006!  :) :)

2005 was a terrific year for me and my family. My son married a wonderful woman, everybody in our family is healthy and thank God I didn't have to attend one funeral for a friend or family member this past year. I've started a new career which I'm excited about. My wife received a major promotion (and raise) which was much deserved and long overdue... plus she keeps getting more beautiful every year. Come to think of it, I'm sorry 2005 has to end.

Here's hoping everyone has a great 2006.

My year was very good. No disasters, health problems or financial woes. Several nice vacations, work is good, hubby and son are great. Yep, no complaints here.

It wasn't too bad, not great either, but nothing really to complain about (besides the usual stuff). *knock on wood*

Here's to an equally good, if not better, 2006!!!

2005 like any year had its ups and downs but overall it was a great year for me. Family is healthy, love my job, my son loves his first year of high school, I saw the Vertigo tour 3 times, got to see the Yankees from Championship seats a couple of times, reconnected with some high school friends and threw a fantastic surprise birthday party for my husband. I'm excited about 2006!

Not great, a little below average. Missed my plane to Fl., lost my best friend, didn't get the RA position.... but hey, next year is another year right? It's a brand new start. Happy New Years to everyone!

Mine was "Not great, a little below average "

Nothing really big happened, I didn't travel anywhere which I usually do at least twice a year. I'm still at the same job, and nothing good happened to the teams I root for except A-Rod got the MVP, and Giants will hopefully do something early next year.. I think I'm still hung over from 2004.

Here's hoping for a kick ass 2006. :gulp:

I said "pretty good" though, in retrospect, I could have said "very good". Everyone in my family is in good health and happy. As many of you know, my mom has had some health issues in the past couple of years but the later part of this year was very good for her. She is 85 years old and feeling better than she has in four or five years. She feels well enough that she's coming down here in mid January to spend six or eight weeks with us (and her healthy twin brother in Tallahassee).

I have finished my first full year in my new position with "Uncle Sam", and I have never been more proud to be associated with an organization... the United States Marine Corps. I feel like I am making a difference for our Warfighters, and the feedback confirms it. A very good feeling.

Add to that, that the wife and I are happy and healthy as are all of our respective family members.... I can't ask for more! God has blessed us for yet another year.

I hope all forumer members can either say the same, or have a much improved quality of life in 2006! Have faith and keep on keepin' on! :D

Let me break down my year:

January- I turned the BIG 18...(lol) I passed all my midterm exams
Feb, March, April-- nothing really happened
May- My cousin got married the same day as my Senior prom so I went to her wedding instead of prom
June- I graduated, but without my dad and brother being there....they drove out to AZ in the beginning of June and didn't get back til july 4.
July- Moved out of NY :( :( :(
August- Residing in AZ, got to see my favorite uncle and his family more often(thats a +)
September- started working with Old Navy
October- nothing (other than Oct. 9 which is a mourning day for us)
November-Thanksgiving with the fam.... Got to see my married cousin(may) for the first time since she got married. Got to see my neices as well since last year.
Dec- nothing really, birthday for the cousin, news of a pregnancy in the family, Christmas, and New Years...

Everyone for the most part is in good health and happy...I can't ask for more than that.

I guess my year was ok now that I think about it.

Pretty bad. Not as bad as 2004, just for the pure fact that nothing was a shock to the system anymore. While everything that was going on was worse, at least I was used to it and could expect it. There hasn't been a year since 2000 that I could put "above average" or up though, so whatever.

I picked Not great, a little below average .

2005 was definitely better than 2004 but it still wasn't great.

2005 definitely had more downs than ups for me. Financially it was a horrible year. We were behind the 8-ball almost from the start, my daughter got in with not the best crowd and started acting out, so that gave me grief for just about the entire year, her first year of high school is turning out to be a disaster. I seem to be missing my parents more and more the longer they have passed, and it's really affecting my state of mind.

But it's looking up. I've taken on more hours at work, which has helped our financial situation a lot, my daughter in the past few weeks has really seemed to be trying to make an effort to get along with me. I've got a beautiful new grand niece, will be having another in March, and my niece is getting married in March to a wonderful guy who will be adopting her 4-year-old daughter. My kids are healthy, my husband loves me and I adore him, we have a comfortable house to live in, wonderful family surrounds us, and I'm learning how to better deal with my teenager. I'm very optimistic :)

Now, if I could just lose 20 pounds, I'll be happier than a pig in isht.

I said Pretty good, above average.
2005 was definitely better than 2004, although the first few months weren't much fun. My mom died in October of 2004, so the first part of 205 was spent takin care of her estate.
But aside from that, things were pretty good. Hubby's business has really grown, the kids are doing well in school and everyone is healthy. I got some new appliances and we have done some fixing up around the house. We got away for a few weekends and a week in Florida with the RV.

I'd say 2005 was pretty good. I wouldn't mind 2006 being as kind to our family.

Great year, I got to do some things I've always dreamed of doing (announcing NCAA baseball in a press box, at Univ. of Texas at the NCAA Regional Tourney), was elected to Sports Director of the campus radio station, and my health has been great.

So not the best year ever, but definetely up there.

It was a very good year, probably my best ever, and I'm really thankful that I still have both sets of grandparents living, and all my other relatives are healthy and well. I made many good, close friends that are ALWAYS there for me, I got baptized in July...2005 was very good to me.

Best of luck to those in 2006 who didn't have such a good year in '05!

I can't really vote. I had some really awesome things happen to me, but I also had some equally sh*tty things happen. I suppose the cancel eachother out. Maybe, I dunno how many of each. Too many ups and downs though. I have my health, so I guess it's a good one, huh?

Every year in which the Yankees don't win the World Series is awful. The only thing that kept the year from totally sucking were my very good school grades and of course Tino coming back.

Not very good for me. Better than 2004 but still pretty sucky. I'm determined to make 2006 better, no more living in the past. The first thing on my agenda is to finalize my divorce by the end of January. I need to make it the final chapter on that part of my life, and move on.

Here's to everyone having a great 2006 :gulp:

I said above average - probably the best part is that we got to go on a lot of vacations (Vegas in March, Texas in May, Charlotte in October), any financial problems were kind of self-imposed, or I could say imposed by having a wedding and five graduations - a niece, a nephew, and three other relatives/friends - in a month and 1/2 and a bunch of milestone birthday parties before and after, but looking at the bright side, we were doing well enough to be able to give everyone nice gifts, which was a good thing. And with all that, we spent the whole spring, summer, and fall seeing family and friends, which was great - I cannot argue with the social life of 2005 at all!

We finally finished the basement, which looks awesome, and led to us finding a good contractor we trust, which was a good thing when we came home from Charlotte and found our roof leaking into our bedroom! Not to mention the small electrical fire the week before Christmas, but we were home, everyone and everything came out fine, and we really did need some electrical work done, so this was a good excuse not to put it off.

Professionally, I made a decision about what to do with my job (which boss to stay with), which seems to be working out well. The job was up and down all year, but isn't that always the case?!?

I'm still happily married, my family remains in at least as good health as they were at the beginning of the year, and we're all working, so all told, 2005 was a very good year!

Oops my bad I thought you meant the Yankees losing! :(

You know, I didn't even mention sports, probably because the sports year was not too good for me, basically.

Yankees - we all know what happenned there, no need to rehash it
Jets - made the playoffs last year and lost (and I had to watch the (ugh) Patriots win and Tom Brady get canonized), and this year managed to have everyone you've ever heard of get hurt
NASCAR - for the second year in a row, no Chase for Kevin Harvick (although I was happy for Tony Stewart winning it)
Rangers - not playing for most of the year, but looking much better than I expected once they started again
Knicks - well, they got a new coach - thankfully, basketball is not my favorite sport
