View Full Version : What's your favorite exercise equipment?
I have a treadmill that I absolutely HATE to use, but love how good I feel when I get off of it lol. I never really use it though, I get too dizzy when I'm on it. It's a shame.
And I just got an Ab Lounge which is pretty cool, my stomach is burning lol.
I would love a Total Gym, I just like the different things you can do on it. And you can do Pilates which I like.

I have two 5 lb weights.....that's it. I use the floor for all my exercising; you know, crunches, push-ups...stuff like that.

My favorite exercise "equipment" are my DVD's. One is Pilates, the other has cardio and exercises for your abs, legs, and arms. It's awesome. :)

I don't really work out, I play racquetball. When I do work out, though, I like the elliptical. This is all at the gym. At home I drink.

Sounds good...which dvd do you use? I have Leslie Sansone...Walk Away the Pounds..and her Pilates. Use it every day! (Except this week...pulled a muscle in my leg....cooking for Christmas Dinner...of all things!)

For me it's a tie between my Bowflex Ultimate 2, and my Treadclimber. They are both excellent and provide a balance between strength training and aerobic excersize.

I agree with the elliptical. Much better than a treadmill, my knees can handle it and I still get a great workout.

I have Denise Austin: The ultimate metabolism boosting workout. For Pilates, I use the Winsor DVD's. I was actually considering buying the walk away the pounds one that you have. Is it good?

Anyone mention DDR yet? DDR's a GREAT way to excercise.
I tried it the other day. Mildly entertaining.

Seriously, I have the Lateral Thigh Trainer that is advertised on TV. I really like it, and I saw results almost immediately.

I had -- and sold -- a Walk Away The Pounds DVD. It was a little too hokey IMO. I also can't exercise in front of the TV, so maybe that had something to do with it.
I tried a more mellow yoga DVD once too -- can't remember which one -- but my left ankle is so screwed up I can't point my foot without weeping from the pain. So no yoga for me...anywhere.
I go to a gym and use the treadmill, weight machines & free weights. My favorite machine is the one where you stand on a platform then do pullups that take you way high up in the air. It's like a carnival ride. :D

I like it..I have the one for the abs and the regular one. I use the one for the abs just about every day. Not a high impact workout. I had trouble with my knees when I first started (ski injury) and wanted a lower impact workout. Now I have NO knee pain! So that for me is a blessing.
Is the Denise Austin high impact on knees and joints? I have been looking at the Winsor Pilates, also!

Does it take up a lot of space? The thing I like about this particular Denise DVD is I can do it in my teeny tiny room.
I think it is a litle high impact on the knees because you do some squats throughout the workout (combines strength training with cardio). You also jump around quite a bit. I wanna vary my workouts though and while I love this DVD, I want a different one to switch things up a bit occasionally.

Never tried yoga, but it seems like it would require a lot of patience. Definitely not one of my virtues.
I have a mini DVD player and that's where I exercise. I just put it on top of the bed and watch it right there.
I know which machine you're referring to. It is fun.

Weights. I'm a simple guy.
Same here, all I need is some dumbells and I'm set.
Also, this thing (http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1419047&cp=&pg=2&kw=fitness+ball&parentPage=search) is great for abs.
You know what else is great for abs? Doing crunches and having a negative energy intake.
Anyone mention DDR yet? DDR's a GREAT way to excercise.
You're right. My daughter just got to play hers for the first time yesterday since we were away and didn't have the PS2 with us.
We all tried it. I am not very good at it, but it's still fun and if you pick a fast paced song you really feel it in your legs.

No, it was in easy mode.
I got it for my wife for Christmas. I've been feeling like I've wanted to crawl out of my skin today, so I gave it a shot to work off the energy.

They're not too bad, we got ours at Sears for under $1000. A few years ago you couldn't touch one for less than $3K.

I had one of those on my bedroom door when I was a kid. It was fun to run and swing into my room with a jump landing.

Maybe I should get rid of all the other equipment I have and get one of those.
I have a pretty big weight bench thingy with various different exercise possibilities, an Ab Lounge, a Power Rider, Cloud Walker and a kick boxing/punching bag thing. Oh and a mini trampoline. I tried to set it all up in the basement and do a circuit routine, but I just never go down in the basement so it didn't last.
So now, I have the weight machine and the Ab Lounge in the spare room upstairs and I use it more frequently than if it was downstairs.

The soccer ball. I play in a five a side league and it's the only way I can enjoy exercise. Lifting weights or going jogging is just monumentally boring. We're bottom of our league and last week I couldn't even get close enough to kick any of the team we were playing, but the season after next we'll qualify for the seniors league, where we expect to be the Manchester United of the league. :)

I had one for a short time. Wasn't mine, was just storing it lol. But I liked it, made my legs feel like jello.

How do you like the Ab Lounge? I've been using it like crazy since I got it.
I cannot wait until we have a pool put in because swimming is one of my favorite things, and I've been wanting to get weights for my ankles to use in the pool. I actually used to do my sit ups in the pool, I just put my legs over the edge and got to it lol. It was cool because I didn't get hot or sweat lol.

I like the Ab Lounge...when I use it. I used it a lot when I first got it, but not long enough to see results. I did feel the results though.
We have a pool and I love doing exercises in it. I wanted to get one of the weight kits I saw in the pool catalogue, with ankle weights, a weight belt and something else, can't remember. But the kit is a bit pricey.
I like swimming back and forth across the pool, or like you said, putting my legs over the egde and kind of doing sit ups. I also walk around the pool doing lunges. Unfortunately, it's only a seasonal workout!
