Without question, the Jays have improved immensely this winter at least on paper. Of course things can still change but at this point they are ahead of Boston IMO. Their pitching has the potential to be very solid:

Starters
Halladay
Burnett
Chacin
Lilly
Towers

Pen
Chulk
Downs
Frasor
Schoenweiss
Speier
Ryan

By adding Glaus their lineup has also improved a lot, albeit not great:

1B Overbay
2b ????? with Hudson gone
SS Adams
3B Glaus
LF Johnson/ Catalanotto
CF Wells
RF Rios
C Zaun
DH Koskie / Hinske / Hillenbrand - trade one for a 2B? - I would trade either Koskie or Hinske

Riccardi has had a busy winter and a very good one. With everything they've invested so far they don't look to be quite done yet. Does anyone see the Jays as a possible playoff team or even threatening for the AL East? There's no way they should be able to overtake the Yankees but stranger things have happened.

Impossible to say. Sure, they look good on paper, but is the chemistry going to be there? On paper, the Yanks should've won just about every year since their last win, but that obviously hasn't happeend.

I still think the Yankees are the team to beat because there was an underlying chemistry there, especially with the addition of Wang and Cano, and another season to build upon that could really produce some wonderful results.

On paper there for real but you have to factor that Glaus is an injury waiting to happen then factor in BJ Ryan pooped out after the all star break and Burnett has the National to American league factor to over come. As they say thats why they play the games I guess.

Injuries always seem to play a part. The Yanks sure had their share last year. I think Burnett's performance will be the most interesting to see.

The Mets looked amazing on paper last year too. Look what happened to them!

Yeah it was nice to have a youth injection :jaw-drop: on the Yankees! But hopefully Toronto will continue to give Boston trouble.
