View Full Version : Why we should sign Willie Harris.

Because of the limited roster space and mobility I think Willie Harris would be a good signing. He can play both the infield and the outfield, this would provide the Yankees with an infield replacement and he's a better outfield backup than Bernie. He's fast and a good base stealer. He doesn't hit much, his career batting average is only .242 which wouldn't matter much cause we wouldn't be our primary pinch hitter anyway. He's 27 so he brings some youth to the roster.
He's got bigstage experience, if you remember he scored the winning run of the WS. And he's really cheap. I think signing him would flesh out our bench while also killing 2 birds with one stone cause he plays both infield and out.

He's going to want a full time job. We cant offer that.

He lost his full time job in Chicago so I don't think it's a definite.

But he's still going to want a starting job, which a lot of teams could give him.

The Cardinals, Mets, Padres, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Marlins, and a few other teams could all offer him a starting job.

I like the Willie Harris idea or maybe we could get Juan Gonzalez? He will come real cheap only made 600,000 last year.. he only played in one game last year i can't rememeber the reason but hes a career .295 hitter i think he would bea good bench option.

The reason is that he was hurt all year. I suppose there's no harm in inviting him to ST, but the likelihood of him contributing in 06 seems pretty low.

Are you serious? You want Juan Gonzalez? No offense, but I have heard some strange thigns on ths board, but that might take the cake. He got hurt in ST, and then in his first at-bat, while running to 1st, he got hurt again. He's done, not what we need, and injury prone.

Willie Harris. Good thinking. I dont think anyone has really said much about him. I think if we signed harris then we would have to go a different way with our bench. So basically it comes down to which bench you like better.

Im not sure which one is better, both have flexability and bring different things to the team. Thoughts ??

Option 1 is cool with me. Although I see Bubba filling the OF role.

yea well i i didn't know what happened but i knew something must be up because hes still a free agent and his numbers weren't bad. I've heard weirder things.. the other day my friend thought it would be interesting to go after Sammy Sosa..
