Top 10:
10. "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada"
9. "Crash"
8. "Sin City"
7. "The Aristocrats"
6. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"
5. "Brokeback Mountain"
4. "March of the Penguins"
3. "Good Night, and Good Luck"
2. "King Kong"
1. "A History of Violence"
Bottom 10:
10. "Shopgirl"
9. "Mindhunters"
8. "Man of the House"
7. "Fantastic Four"
6. "Palindromes"
5. "The Dukes of Hazzard"
4. "The Bridge of San Luis Rey"
3. "Be Cool"
2. "Diary of a Mad Black Woman"
1. "Elizabethtown"
How they left "The Honeymooners" off the bottom 10 list is beyond me. As boring as Elizabethtown was, it can't be worse then that POS (which I didn't see).
I can't comment otherwise because I've only seen 2 of the top 10 (Sin City and Harry Potter). I thought both were over-rated though. I love guy movies, but I thought Sin City was too over the top with the violence.
What a bullsh*t list. Sin City was a POS of a movie. It was probably the most pointless movie of the year.
The fact that ROTS and Batman Begins isn't on the list of best movies is all you need to know. I bet Mike Lupica made this list.

Sin City should be higher. King Kong was garbage.
Worst movie of the year, FAR AND AWAY, is Duece Bigalow: European Gigalo. Its not even close

How is it possible that I've heard of more movie in the bottom 10 than top 10?
Just like how Casablanca is supposed to be the greatest movie of all-time. Whatever.

It was awesome, i've never seen anything like it. It certainly wasn't for everyone. Whereas a movie like King Kong, i've certainly seen before. Twice actually, since its the 3rd remake

I haven't seen King Kong. But I had high expectations for Sin City and all throughout the movie I was trying to figure out the point of the movie. And then at the end there was no point. I hated it.

I fell asleep watching both. I think my late 20th century mind isn't trained for movies like that (made before 1960) becasue they always put me to sleep no matter how "good" they are.
I was really disappointed with Sin City. It could have been awesome, but it was just an excuse for 2 hours of graphic violence. If the stories linked together in any way, like Pulp Fiction did it would be great, but it was just 3 stories with the only connection being the city. Hell, even if Alba got naked (like strippers are supposed to) it'd be in the top 10.

King Kong has no business being in the top 10, same with Sin City or Good Luck and Good Evening. Crash was good, but also not top 10. As for the bottom 10, I wouldn't put the FAntastic Four in there.

There are plenty of movies that I have enjoyed in my life that don't deserve being on any top ten lists, trust me. And while I may laugh till my ribs break at "Hot Shots Part Deux" it is not a better movie then "The Aviator" which I was bored watching.
"Virgin" was funny, but it lacked about 15 qualities that make up a good or "best" movie.
I understand were you are coming from though. I just think that because I might enjoys a movie over another movie doesn't mean that movie is better than the other movie. That is really all I am saying.
But I am sure someone can make an entirely rational argument that enjoying a movie is really the only thing that matters.

I think we may have been on two different wave lengths. I was just going from the basis of if I were the one making the list how it would look. It's all subjective anyway. One person's treasure is another person's piece of garbage.

Incredibly long? Incredibly bad? Incredibly stupid?
Sorry, I know a lot of people liked King Kong, but I HATED it. The only thing worse than a bad movie is when audiences and critics buy the studio hype and can't realize a bad movie when they see it. King Kong has no business being on a top 10 list for the year.

While I would agree that John Q Public frequently buys into that kind of thing, there have been too many positive reviews from diverse critical sources to lead me to believe that the movie is pure garbage. Three hours is a long time to be subjected to any movie, but a friend, whose opinion I respect, and who doesn't usually go for these kind of big budget productions, really enjoyed the movie, and wasn't bothered by it's length. I'll be seeing it tomorrow.

since i'm was a film major in college, i'd probably look at things differently than most, but i thought sin city was far and away the best movie of the year. it was the only movie that made me say "wow, this is brilliant." the look, the storytelling, editing, etc. all top notch.
my second favorite was romero's land of the dead. not only did he appeal to the masses, but he kept to his true filmmaker roots and delivered a message about american society.
and sorta offtopic, but mark this down, the best movie of 2006 will be The Fountain.

I agree it was the most visually stunning movie of the year, but what do you say to my prior arguement that there was no flow to it? If it came together in the end, like Pulp Fiction, it would be out of this world, but it was just 3 stories that happen to take place in this comic book city. It should have been a HBO miniseries or something.

Because it wasn't an original script, it was based of the graphic novels, which Rodriguez stayed true too. I'm sure if Spiderman started blasting people away with a 9mm, the fans of the comic book wouldn't be none too happy.

Then they should have made it about one of the novels, not 3. If I see a movie with 3 stories, I want them to have something to do with one-another.
