this lineup just gets the elephants stomping on the butterflies. How do you see it? at this point, nomaD and ramoN are under deep cover and heavily encrypted to keep the Bosox off balance. the acronyms are used to protect their innocence... Let's get ready to rumble.... :D :D :D

You shouldn't start a new thread just to push your own poorly-conceived hopes. Try posting in the Nomar or Damon threads first.

Edit out "lighten up, etc". Friendly word of advice.;)
back to topic.
If Damon is absolutely the only way to go, it looks good , I guess.
You're DHing NOmah, right?

The point of a forum is to have an exchange of ideas in the form of threads and the posts within. New threads shouldn't be started everytime someone has something to say. Especially when it should be placed in a thread that already exists.

I disagree with this. When a thread gets unmanagably long, it is impossible to read every post in each thread. Valid points often go unnoticed. I don't feel that every thread that is a repeat of others should be immediately locked. But thats how they do it there so I have to accept it.

Nomar probably wont hit lead off. I can pretty much guarantee that. He just doesnt walk enough.
Also, neither he or Damon is a sure bet to come here, though nomar is much more of a sure bet. My lineup if they have Damon would be this:
1) Damon CF
2) Jeter SS
3) Sheffield RF
4) A-Rod 3B
5) Matsui Lf
6) Nomar 1b
7) Giambi DH
8) Posada C
9) Cano 2b
not much different than others on here, but I like nomar in front of Giambi to get pitches to hit, rather than in front of a .249 hitter
Jeter
Nomar
ARod
Shef
Giambi
Matsui
Cano
Posada

So what with the new thread. I agree...if you can't find Nomar info in post 366 of a 600 post thread, it's OK to re-post. I like the "heavy" encryption of the names.
Big George, in his semi-Alzheimer's fog, is trying to assert himself with $$$man.
As long as we don't give up young talent, $$$man is probably OK with Damon at 4/48. Boras is holding out for 5/55. Sawx are holding their noses, and threatening other CFs. Does Damon come here? I say 60/40 yes. Looking at his wife (amazing) in the stands on TV for 4 years is worth the extra bucks that we fans (at least the men) have to pay in higher ticket prices because of this.
Nomar is 70/30 coming here. Mia wants the NY exposure for her career. $$$man doesn't want to go over an incentive laden $5 million, George is pushing...

Hey dude, you're from Pittsburgh, what would you think of the Yanks sending a right-hander to the Bucs for Craig Wilson. He isn't particularly well-liked by his own FO and could be that 1B/OF/DH guy Nomar is supposed to represent.

Its big brother posts like yours that sour my experience everytime I come back to this messageboard. Can't we simply have some meaningful dialogue about our favorite team without McGruff the Crime Dog citing Regulation #50,234(c)(1)(d) from the Yankee Messageboard posting rules ? More than half of the threads already started on a particular subject have such incoherent unintelligent drivel that it becomes easier to flush out fresh thoughts on a particular subject by starting a new thread. Besides, what sense does it make to put a thread about a prospective 2006 lineup in the Nomar or Damon thread ? Aren't they mutually exclusive topics ?
Now I remember why I have stayed away from this bully pulpit of a Board for so long. . .
I'd love to see Torre put Giambi in the 2 hole and A-Rod 3rd.. Monster OBPs up front.

I will reserve my opening day lineup for when we have a DH and CFer. This thread doesn't make total sense right now.

yea i just dont know what nomar is going to do and if cano iwil lhave a sophomore slump or if hell be as good or better then he was last year, but i would have posada bat last, i know hes fading but if posada is batting 9th, then the lineup is pretty good

Why would you bat 4 righties in a row, and then 3 lefties in a row? That is matchup heaven for a manager. If this were the opening day lineup, I would make it like this:
Jeter
Matsui
Arod
Giambi
Sheffield
Nomar
Cano
Posada
Bubba
This splits people up and does not make the lineup so dependent on Jeter. Having the huge slugger, Giambino, in the middle makes the lineup more balanced, and it splits up the lefties.

You are right. I would swap Shef and Giambi -- but I would leave the rest as it was.
I like Nomar as the #2 better than Matsui, regardless of LH/RH considerations, although they are remarkably similar in OBP and SLG. Matsui probably has a bit more pop at this point, so I think I prefer him lower in the order.
