The Baltimore Orioles didn't offer arbitration to B.J. Surhoff. He's not a fulltime player anymore, but the Yankee bench is weak right now and a good lefty hitter who can play some 1B wouldn't be bad to ahve. Would we have nay interest in this Rye native?

Even though he grew up a couple of miles from me, the guy is 41 years old and his bat looked awfully slow last season. Let the dude retire in peace. If we need a big lefty bat for the bench, get Daryl Ward.

Why do we need another 40+person on this team

I never turn down a good BJ. This, however, is not a good one.

Damn you I was going to go that route but from a chick's point of view, obviously ;)

Come on, are you serious....of all the players not offered arbitration you go and pick this guy?? Have you ever thought that maybe the Yankees need to get a bit younger....what would be want with another player whose best years are BEHIND him???

I would rather have Eduardo Perez.

He might have some value to a team in need of a veteran presence, but then again that's what managers should be for.

Cashman has already said a number of times that the last thing he is looking for this offseason is another one-dimensional 1B/DH.

You know who would have been great? Deivi Cruz. Can play anywhere and hit too. But he just signed with StL.

We would if:
a) he wasn't 65
b) he wasn't an automatic out
c) his best days weren't behind him
but since he is, the Yankees don't

Do you get paid on a per thread basis?

All these threads remind me last year's mid-season moves. Keep throwing stuff against the wall until something sticks. I suppose, eventually, one of these threads is going to be right on the money.

Somedays are better thread starting days than others.

My girlfriend's aunt actually dated BJ Surhoff for a while. I believe she broke it off. Must not have been too good, move on.

I'm no fan of bringing Bernie back, but he looks to be a better choice than Surhoff on production alone. Surhoff being 4 years older only makes the gap that much wider.

I can swing a 100 lb weight faster than he can swing a bat these days.
