OK guys - go get him. I started a "get Nomar thread for Left Field" and you gave me 222 replies that crucified me to the cross. Not one of you defended me.
Let's see if you guys still have in you to give it to Kay.
I still would like him for LF tho'.

I like Michael Kay when he does radio games with John Sterling.
I'll take Jim Kaat, Kenny Singleton, and Bobby Murcer over Kay in TV.
Nomar in CF? UMMMMM No.

I heard this live and was actually interested in who he thought the Yankees could get to play CF but when I heard this I laughed. What a joke.
I want to see the Yankees trade for Joey Gathright or Brad Wilkerson. They will do neither but I'll be happy as long as its not Damon or Pierre.
I heard Michael Kay is coming to play CF...Jim Kaat will be our opening day starter....Justice to LF
Panamaniac42
11-21-05, 08:07 PM
Today Kay actually said Gathright "would be perfect leading off", when everytime we played Tampa Bay this year, Kay would tell the viewers that Gathright "is a singles hitter at best" or that he "is not to be confused with a good hitter", etc etc.

Nomar? Is there another player named Nomar besides Mia Hamm's husband? The same Nomar Garciaparra whom Kay denounced as a parasite in July 2004? He is going to be our centerfielder? As Lloyd Bridges says in "Airplane" "It looks like I picked a bad week to stop drinking". Signing Jaret Wright was brilliant compared to this idea.

Kay is a parasite -- I wish the Yankees would get rid of this tapeworm, but he looks to be a YES lifer.
My apologies to any Michael Kay fans out there but I just can't get down with a guy who "climaxes" when another team rallies against the Yankees.

I actually like Kay for some reason, even though he can be a moron lol. Although this is just too big of a risk. Nomar is always injured and I would rather have someone play CF that at least has played the OF.

I suggest trying to obtain Miguel Tejada to play 2B, Edgar Renteria for 1B, Rafael Furcal in LF, Juan Uribe as a C, David Eckstein in RF, Jimmy Rollins at DH, and a starting rotation of Omar Vizquel, Julio Lugo, Cristian Guzman, Cesar Izturis, and Clint Barmes. Another poster suggested a Cirillo for Rivera trade... I'd agree to this only if Cirillo is handed the closer job.
Yankeeah
11-21-05, 08:46 PM
Guys, seriously, stop being so ignorant. It makes perfect sense.
Sign Nomar for CF
Sign Furcal to play 2nd
Trade Cano and Wang for Michael Young who will play LF
Trade Melky and Duncan for Miguel Tejada who will catch
Its the dream line up!!
Kay's a doofus

Why is this so crazy? If he cant adjust to center but can still hit, you move him to second base and trade cano for a torii hunter type centerfielder at the deadline.

I don't believe in team chemistry. But Nomar Garciaparra showed me everything he ever needed to in that July 1st 2004 game. The fact that Nomar was so god damned self absorbed that he was willing to pout in the dugout during the most exciting game of his life rather than try to help tells us all we need to know about his character.

Michael Kay should be dragged around behind Freddie Sez by 2 armed guards. Freddie and fans will then take turns hitting the living sh*t out of him all game long. Sure we'll miss the sound of the ol' pan but that's a small price to pay.

From what I remember, you've got Game 3 vs Oakland and nothing much else. The only reason he won that one was Jeter's Flip.

Nope, I remember game 7, I remember he didn't start. Sorry I should have clarified. Also, he went 1-0 in 2 games with an ERA over 4 in the 04 ALCS so I'm not sure what your point is there. Futhermore, he had a great start vs the Marlins so I'll give him credit there. All in all, he has not been worth the 88 million invested in him.

He was dominating for what...6 innings in game 1 when we had a huge lead and IIRC gave up 3 or 4 runs.
He's been our best and most valuable SP since he got here. I'll say he's been worth it to this point.
