I just spent my second extended period in Jupiter, FL staying with my best friend. I decided to go down now in August/September to see how it is during the summer and suprisingly found it easier to deal with than the heat/smog up here in CT. If I can find employment down there to afford the cost of living down there, I intend to move there by spring training.

I hear what you mean about CT. I'm now in Charlotte, NC and I absolutely love it here. I wanna stay and not return to Bridgeport unless I absolutely have to

You really just want to be able to ride a shiny new Vespa to work, year round.

jupiter's great. my folks live down in palm beach gardens.

if you golf, you've found heaven. if you don't - you've found some place a notch below that, but you get the idea...

there is just so much to do down there and people work to live, not the other way around. From Thanksgiving until mid March life up here is work, go home and maybe a movie or the mall. Yippee.

A fact that did not go unnoticed, especially at the pool and beach :)

I've lived in both Florida (Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens) and in CT believe me it's not overrated. The weather in Florida is 100x better!! :) I just can't wait until the winter hits and it's gray skies about everyday up north that's when I wish I was back down in Florida. :(

It rains here practically daily and the humidity is unbearable. It's all subjective, but I don't think it's anything special.

It's a trade off, the summer can be pretty hard to get through but the weather all year round especially during the winter is the best. My birthday is in Oct and when I lived in FL I could go swimming which was the best but up here it's time to bundle up. No thanks. :D

I don't even know why I moved back... ;)

Triple, you nailed it right on the head. Half the time from November to April it is gray out, too cold to go out so the life is work, go home, go to a movie/bar/mall and that's it. And it's gray and you need 2 hours to get home from work in snow when it should take 20 minutes. No thanks. The thing about Florida is that this is their rainy season and rain down there is a 15 minute downpour and then it's gone and the sun is out. Sure they have an occasional drab day (like Monday was when I was down there thanks to the developing Ophelia) but I'll take that over 6 months of gloom up here.

There it is. I got back Tuesday and the pool is already too cold to go in. If I didn't go to Florida at all, it would be June of 2006 (unless I want to spend a fortune in gas to heat it) until I can go in again. I love the pool! And the women I saw down there and each time I go down, wow.

Well, looks like Florida is becoming reality. My friend who is down there is moving into his permanent house in March. The job search on my end is going real slow so what I may end up doing is selling my condo, quitting my job and head for Florida and stay with him for a few months while I job hunt and then condo hunt down there. Talk about a great New Year's present!!!

What part of Florida do you live in? I was in Jupiter back in August/September and it wasn't that humid at all. Not as bad as the west coast anyway.

I thought as the time got closer I'd have second-thoughts, I don't, for every somewhat sunny day there is up here, there are 4-5 where it's just grey. I hate being locked up inside!

I love all three! Also my best friend is down there with my God son, and I have another friend down there as well so it goes beyond just the weather, which is a prime reason. It is 76 down there today.

Anything below 160 is acceptable to me, unless you're 5'2 or something.

Seriously! It's not all it's cracked up to be down here. It's so congested because too many people live here now. It's SO God damn hot it's ridiculous. The weather is seriously overrated. Up north is definitely the way to go.

For the love of God don't do it!!!

I guess it depends on how "fat" is defined. 250 pounds is too much, but I can always look away. I honestly don't mind women with some extra meat on them. I'm not going to say what weight because height is also a factor. I actually prefer taller women with some meat on them.

Thanks, I can't wait. I've been there in the summer and the summer here this year was worse and so is the 8 months of the year that it's not summer.

Good luck GR. You have been talking about this for a long time and sometimes you just have to close your eyes and take the plunge. Lots of people move down south and love it. Florida may just be for you.

Me, I like the change in seasons. I had a ball in Forida this past week and the weather was gorgeous in St Pete, but I was very happy to get home, even though it was cold and snowy.

Do it! :)

I can take three of the seasons, it's the one we are in now that I can't. But the fact down in Florida you can jump in the pool right after opening Christmas presents is one thing that I am looking forward to. It got to the point where waiting for jobs in my company to open up in West Palm Beach was not happening so I mentioned to my friend down there I was thinking of selling my condo and renting down there. Well yesterday morning he called to wish me a Happy New Year and he mentioned the idea of moving in with them until I find something (of course I'd help in paying the bills). So I'm likely going down for two weeks in March for spring training (first day down there I will go to see the Cardinals host the Yankees) and eat up the days off I have left and then go back on April 3 and hand in my 2 weeks notice. (My company has a policy that you can't take select time after you give notice. So April 14 is my last day and I will be down there for May 1.

Unbelievable. My friend who lives in Jupiter, FL and I went to Sacred Heart University and our alma mater's men's basketball team is playing at the University of Miami tonight. He's there and who does he run into but someone who we knew at Sacred Heart that moved to North Palm Beach (about 10 minutes south of where my friend lives). There's another contact from where I'll be moving.

The women
The nightlife
The restaurants

How good are they, as compared to New York?

Well for me, it's CT vs. Florida. But the women I've seen are very hot in FL (and lightly dressed year-round :) ). Vs. CT the nightlife and restaurants are not even comparable, Florida by a landslide.

The thing about living in Florida is that it's quite a trek to Yankee Stadium. Although you could catch the Yankees when they visit Tampa Bay.

Believe me, I've thought a lot about that. Fortunately, someone I know lives in Tampa, so when the Yanks come down to Tampa for a weekend, I might just stay in Tampa for the weekend and catch the games there. Also, I'll probably fly back north to visit my parents in the summer and go the Stadium then.
