Nick Johnson and D'Angelo Jimenez have both missed the last two games in Ottawa against the Lynx. What's the deal? Are they both expelled from Canada? Are they injured? Are they being rested? Are they about to be called up? I check their progress daily, and the two straight days of non-action confused me. Does anybody have more information?

Maybe they've been called up. I can wish, can't I?

A quick check of Mon's boxscore shows that Nick Johnson did not play once again. What's going on here?

you can always call the Clippers and find out. Still, I have a mroe sinister theory here. Usually, when a minor league player is not injured and the team pulls him out of games, it means he is being traded. If both Jiminez and Johnson were pulled out. . . you never know.

I was thinking the same thing, and I know I'm not alone in my thinking...my firiend and I were wondering if it was for Urbina or maybe a big bat?

KLJ -- if Johnson was traded, would you change your signature? :D

The Yankees shouldn't trade Nick Johnson for anyone other than Todd Helton or Jeff Bagwell. If they did, I would demand Cashman be fired immediately.

ElDuquecito,

f the Yankees trade Johnson, you can rest assured it was not Cashman behind that deal. . . it was George.

Actually, Jimenez played yesterday (went 1 for 6), but Johnson didn't play again...

off topic -- Spencer went 0 for 6 yesterday..yikes...that doesn't sound encouraging...

They ain't trading Johnson for someone to fill a middle reliever position, possibly Jiminez, but not Johnson. These guys did not win these rings being that stupid. He is probably sick or maybe his mother is sick Who knows?

Johnson didn't play again tonight...if it's an injury, I'm not sure why wouldn't it be reported anywhere....hmmm, the mystery continues...

Jimenez went 2 for 3 with a walk and a HR...and Spencer went 2 for 5 with a stolen base...

Perhaps the yankees do not want to admit he has another injury. He does seem to be injury prone. But I am more suspicious that there will be a deal for Coleman, Perez and maybe Johnson for 5th starter or reliever.I am not sure the yankees are after bats yet. Although that would not surprise me.

Unless that fifth starter is, say, Pedro Martinez, or maybe Eric Milton, I wouldn't bet on it. A swap of perhaps the best prospect in baseball for a guy who can give you 150 innings of a 4.50 ERA is the definition of "lopsided."

Baseball America says that Nick is day-to-day with a hand injury said to be not related to his wrist injury from last year.

According to the NY Post he will be out at least another 3 days (he's already been out 4) due to a problem with his left thumb. There is a fear that the injury might shelve him longer. "He got jammed," according to Clipper manager Trey Hillman.

I actually called the Clippers and asked. Johnson jammed his thumb. The injury is not serious and the Clippers do not expect him to be out long. He should return by the end of the week or this weekend.

Good news! Can't help but to get the jitters when Nick gets hurt.
Thanks for calming me down.

Spencer must be getting serious confident, if he is stealing bases!

More good news, the knee must be feeling a lot better.

I'm glad that Nick isn't seriously hurt too, mr roy...that is great news, although it worries me that this guy seems a little fragile...

As for Spencer, that was my first thought too -- that sounds like great news for the knee -- I hope it wasn't defensive indifference, lol!!

I asked Stephanie Storm about this, and this is what she told me:

Nick's gota partially torn muscle in his left thumb, could be out another week at least. Jimenez is playing, but struggling with a testy right hamstring.

FYI
