During All Star weekend, The Corporation reviewed it's strategy and decided to cut costs and begin tooling for next year. Seeing that the leaderboard was very packed towards the top, The Corporation decided to offer a big prize to any taker- Miguel Tejada, he of 150 RBI last season and a stalwart in the OBP category.
GHR714, seeing the value in such a powerful fantasy player, decided to give up Robinson Cano, Mike Sweeney, and the rights to BJ Upton.
Outlook: The Corporation's pitching was much to weak this season for any realistic chance of a comeback. Retooling with cheaper and easily resignable players such as Cano and Upton will be key, as they will hold down the middle infield for the Corporation for years to come. GHR gets a powerful bat to help hold off the charging NY Knights and help in catching Jacked up Eye Black 23 in the offensive categories.
Wow...the #1 team gets stronger.

I don't see Upton as part of the trade. :dunno:
EDIT: In fact, he looks like a FA :wtf:

Tejada:

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Number one ranked SS, and 17th overall. Plus at $35 could be an extension since he has already mentioned he won't be resigning Vlad.
Sweeney:
<TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR class=bg4 align=middle><TD>AB</TD><TD>HR</TD><TD>AVG</TD><TD>RBI</TD><TD>R</TD><TD>SB</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=middle>245</TD><TD align=middle>11</TD><TD align=middle>.318</TD><TD align=middle>44</TD><TD align=middle>28</TD><TD align=middle>2</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Cano:

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Sweeney at $3 is a potential keeper, the 21st ranked 1b and 191 overall.
Cano at $5 is a definite keeper, is the 18th ranked 2B and 367 overall.
So, being traded is $35 purchase value, currently worth 36.67, For $3 & $5 PV, currently worth... Sweeney $14.31 & Cano $2.77.
Now, look at the offensive categories and GHR 714 is either first or second in everyone but steals, and he isn't trying to improve in that category. If he gets Tejada, might as well go ahead and give him the title right now. That would be 4 categories he would win, which would equal 52 points for 4 categories.
IMO, and that is what this is, its a dump trade. The Corporation is only 17 points out of 3rd place, why is he giving up on his season now?

You're arguing for this season, though. In that sense, yes it is highly unfair.
However, this being a keeper league, it is potentially a highly unfair trade for next year.
Cano at $5, Sweeney at $3, and Upton at $9 wraps up much of the Corp's infield for less than half of Tejada's salary, which free's up an additional $18 to spend on any one position player in next years auction.
Hell, if Tejada isn't protected, Chanman could actually buy him up again, without spending any more than he did last year considering the $18 he just freed up.

I guess my vocality is directly related to me being the team most affected by this. In the said four offensive categories, I sit either first or second.

I know i'm 17 points out of 3rd but i'll tell you what - - i ai'nt catching no body... my pitching is a mess and I'm not climbing any ladders with them in the pitching department. I was set on not protecting tejada and pujols(WHO IS SITLL AVAILABLE!!!!), due to their enormous salaries for next year. So I freed up $, took on some talent in Cano and Upton(whos RIGHTS are held by GHR.. they have been transferred to me), and a maybe in Sweeney.

I hear that, but at the same time, if you take an objective view on the trade, it is not veto-able.

My point, is that if in hindsight, his team wins the league, and the cause of that is his team winning 4/5 offensive categories, IMO, it will directly related to this trade.
No matter if its a keeper league or not, Mike Sweeney, Robinson Cano, and BJ Upton should not land Miguel Tejada. My opinion.

Boo I don't understand - - so tell me why you would make a trade, other than to improve on your team? If you could make a trade that would land a great player, would you do it? I offered Tejada and Pujols to everyone, so should only teams that aren't in the running be able to accept? This is EXACTLY what you are saying. I got 3 offers, 2 very good ones for Tejada, and I felt this was the most beneficial to me.

Exactly; thats why he did it.

If I were to argue any side of this trade, I would argue that there was actually TOO much good, cheap talent given up.
BJ is one of the top hitting prospects in the majors, and he is locked in for two more years after this one.
Sweeney is cheap and can put up big numbers. Cano is cheap and plays in the middle of the Yankees lineup.
Even if none of them put up huge numbers, their salaries only serve to free up more money that could be used to acquire big name, high production guys that are BETTER than Tejada...
The Corp has solidified many several spots for the future.

Andy, your contradicting yourself. You are not improving you team this year, and yes I realize this is a keeper league! But you are still well within distance to make a run. You are giving up the best player offensively by his position in the game. Like I have stated, this is dump trade! You just proved it. You are giving up on this season and only made the first place team better. That is my issue.
Hell, I got some young talent, throw me Pujols.
Exactly; thats why he did it.

A.) Yes,because it is a dump trade and it directly affects the balance of the league! A team that is in 1st or 2nd in 4/5 categories now has the best offensive SS in the league.
B.) Don't let your dislike of Tejada blind the fact that he is still the most productive fantasy SS in baseball
C.) Again, my argument that this is dump trade and should be reviewed.

Hey man, if you got some good cheap talent, i'll give you pujols for them. I'll "dump" them to you. My point is I was looking in the standings, and saw that my offense wasn't the problem, my pitching was. There's no way I was going to catch anyone this year with that pitching staff. Just like in real life, instead of going into next year and letting Tejada walk and getting nothing in return, I flipped him for 2 extremely promising young players and a solid player in sweeney.
I wasn't trying to pad anyone's stats or give him away to the 1st place team. I gave him to the team that gave me the best deal. If you want "revenge" give me some good resignable players and 45hrs 130+ rbi will be yours.

A) It should effect the current balance of the league if it is executed correctly. However the it doesn not have an overall negative effect on league balance down the road.
B) I realize that Tjada is an absolute fantasy monster; he is the most baluable SS, and one of the best hitters to have. I am in no way meshing my opinion of him in reality with my opinion of him as a component of a fantasy team.
Hoever, this move allows Andy to acquire someone even better than Tejada next year...
OK, here's a more expounded version of my point. Each team has $260 to spend on 23 players going into the auction. Thats an average of about $11 per player. Tejada was earmarked for $35 as a renewal.
So now lets say Andy was willing to spend $35 again for a player of his caliber. However, now that he has this young, cheap talent, he can add an additional $16 to that $35 total ($33 for 3 players that only cost him $17 now), and be able to bid $48 while not truly spending anymore money.
C) If anyone wants to further the argument against the trade, then by all means, please do so.
Also, keep in mind that our trade deadline is the same as the Majors...

Everyone remember PUJOLS IS AVAILABLE
He can be had. I have 2 offers on the table and am looking to start a bidding war. Remember, Pujols is, without a doubt, the best hitter in baseball. He hits for highaverage, tons of homers, tons of RBIS, tonsof runs.
Make offers people :)

That last trade made sense because you were getting good, cheap ML talent, plus a guy who was wrapped up for 2 years and has the potential to be a fantasy stud.
Be careful when dealing Pujols; the last trade made sense, but if the Pujols one doesn't I won't let it pass.
Not saying you're going to make a bad deal, just that you should make sure it is entirely defensible and that you get back a solid return- not just "the best available" one.
