If Chad Ogea's shoulder passes a physical, the veteran right-hander will sign a minor league contract with the Yankees. Ogea has been throwing for the Yankees at their minor league complex and shown enough stuff to get the Yankees' interest.
Ogea, 30, pitched briefly in the Indians' minor league system last year after trying to come back from shoulder surgery in 1999. He appeared in one game for Buffalo (Triple-A) and four games for Akron (Double-A).
Ogea's big league record is 37-35. His best season was 1996 when he was 10-6 with a 4.79 ERA. He last pitched in the big leagues for the 1999 Phillies and went 6-12 with a 5.63 ERA.
