Well, that was one wild Derby a couple of weeks ago. What does the Preakness have in store? Was Giacomo a fluke, a beneficiary of a killer pace scenario, or a horse getting good at the right time? Hell, I don't know.
I'm going to play it pretty conservatively. I won't jump on the Giacomo bandwagon, although I will throw a deuce on him for my mom because she was so fond of his sire, Holy Bull. Here are my picks:
Afleet Alex
High Fly
Greeley's Galaxy
Longshot: Scrappy T.

I say Afleet Alex, Closing Argument, or High Fly.

I hope Giacomo wins, but I seriously doubt it. I say Closing Argument wins the Preakness.

I should start this by saying I know nothing about horseracing but I decided to bet this time.
I bet $50 on Greeley's Galaxy to win.
$50 on Scrappy T to place.
$12 on a boxed trifecta of Afleet Alex, Giacomo, and High Fly.
$12 on a boxed trifecta of Greeley's Galaxy, Afleet Alex, and Closing Argument.
LETS GO GREELEY'S AND SCRAPS!
I'm going Greeley's Galaxy, Giacomo, Afleet Alex (in that order).
A simply amazing horse race.
How Afleet Alex even stayed up is incredible, but to gather himself and turn it on down the stretch.... There are no words.

Yes, impressive by Alex but how bout my boy Scrappy T for also staying up!!!!!
I missed the trifecta by 1 horse.

Scrappy almost killed Afleet Alex and Jeremy Rose. Thank God that Horse didn't go down.
It was amazing Scrappy T was able to hold on for second place.

Seriously. What an amazing race! Best race I've ever seen. I just can't believe that the horse I bet on because of his name (my name also starts with a T and I like to think of myself as scrappy) just won me some pretty good money.

Scrappy was my longshot, so I had an across the board bet on him. It wasn't a complete loss for me. But I am very impressed by Afleet Alex. He not only managed to stay on his feet, he pulled away to win! That's not something you see every day. Great race.

heh betting logic is funny sometimes. My brother cleaned up at the Derby because we have a neighbor called Dante whose name, for some reason, had circulated around the neighborhood as "Giacomo." Opportunity presented itself; the rest is history. No, really, he spent all of the money already.
26 and counting

It was a great race. What could have been a distaster for Afleet Alex ended up being a win. The only problem is, what is the point of watching the Belmont this year? Nobody's going for the triple crown, so the only interest will be to see who can bet right on these horses.
