Welcome Blue Raven... wow, we have quite an international mix now... I think we have fans from Norway, Canada, England, and some other countries I can't recall at the moment... :)
The "do you have a sister named wind" is actually a joke, because there happens to be another forumer named "WindRaven" (I'm sure you'll meet her soon... she makes herself heard...just don't knock Al Gore and she'll love you forever;).)

It's great to have you! How did you become a Yankee fan? Do you ever get to see their games on tv in Germany?

How did I become a Yankee fan ? Good question. I've never thought about it.
When You are interested in a Sport You look for a Team which is representative for it. And the Yankees are. It is just a feeling when You say "Hey, that's it." It feels like my favourite soccer team in Germany (Schalke) or UK (Liverpool): Success, Ups and downs through the History, a real good History itself - and a club with atmosphere for people like You and me. Yes, I think for me is the atmosphere the most important thing.
And - whereever You are in this world and You talk to people about Basenball and You say "Hey, I love the Yankees !", they say: "Cool, good club. I've heard about them already." And automatically You have something in common with them.
In Germany You nearly have no chance to see Baseball in TV. So I am happy when I'm in US (and the Season is running) to look Baseball whereever I am. And also my wife has become sick of this "desease". That's one reason why I love her :ga-ga:

Welcome aboard Blue Raven. You've found the very best Yankee site on the internet.
BTW, I lived in Germany from '79 - '81. Augsburg. I absolutely loved it!
Again, welcome. :)

Welcome Blue Raven,
We are all sick of this Yankee disease. My sister is the latest in my family to become addicted, I don't know what it is about this team!

Hy DWathome,
it is a cruel disease. I know it here in Germany in Soccer. Babies get their club-membership 30 minutes after the doc makes his hit.
It is in Your blood and every cell of Your body. If the team wins - You are the greates. You feel so high - I think it is better than using any drug (no idea of a drug feeling - I don't need this stuff).
BUT: If Your team has lost - You are so down. It feels as if the world is going down (esp. during the final phase in the championship).
And we all love this feelings - it is a kind of masochism.
It is a disease we want and (lucky us) where no medicine exists all over the world. That's why it is international and that's why (in my mind) the Yankees are also an international disease. Also one of the most famous soccer club in the world (Manchester United) has become addicted.
So - welcome to the family, all girls and boys in the world.
