Not sure if this is okay to start, but I want to have my situation resolved.
I think that we should use 6 pt font like the minor league draft.
I am going to demote to the reserve list:
Edwin Jackson SP Dodger
and JackUpEyeBlack23 would also like to announce that I am signing him to a contract extension of two years at $6, thus declining his option on a third year.
Just to clarify...
E. Jack will be on my roster in 2006 and 2007?

Well, if he's starting so am I,
BJ Upton
also I would like to sign him to a 3 year contract @ $13/year.
Question: can we only have 1 player on reserve are can we put more?

I think that if you reserve him you can only sign him to a two year deal, or you have to increase his base salary by $5. Correct me if I'm wrong, Kev. :)

10-4, then 2 years @ $9 or whatever it costs to keep him 3 years
Extentions are $4 a year, so a 2 year extention is +$8 to his salary.

Right, i know that, he was bought for $1, thereby making his 2 year contract worth $9, what I don't know is whether I can sign him to 3 years. If no 3 years, then the 2 year contract will have to do. Now that I've reserved him do I drop him or put him on reserves (sportsline says I can't do it) or what.

But E Jack's salary (boo_427) was wrong...
I think you release him. Nobody can pick him up b/c he's on reserve for you. But Kev should confirm...

E,
So your saying E. Jack should be $10 for the next 2 years or $6? Just want to clarify!
He was purchased with a salary of $2 for this year.
And from my understanding we drop him, since he is reserved here.

If you're reserving him, you either have to
1) add $5 to his salary
or
2) Sign him to a 2 year deal for '06 and '07.
Basically, this means that you either make him $6 with no comitment, or $9 for the next two years.
Keep in mind, guys that there is a penalty for cancelling a contract early...

Alright. I'm signing Navarro for 2 years at $9.
How can I get my roster legal again?

Just drop Navarro and pick up whomever you want to be active for you.
You know thats $9 per year, right?

Drop him? okay....
I think I'd rather do the $6 thing with no committment. it's early, I'm sorry.

Keep in mind that the outcome of this thread from last year was that no minor leaguers that are not projected to make the big club out of ST can be taken in the auction. They are available in the minor league draft only.

I think that would be better than taking that clown at $10. What a bust!

Looks like right-hander Edwin Jackson, the Dodgers' former top prospect, might tempt the Rays into putting him into their rotation. Jackson retired 15 of 16 hitters in his first two outings, throwing 94 to 96 mph with a devastating slider and decent changeup. The Rays initially wanted Jackson to build confidence at Triple-A, but could adjust that plan ...

misspelling aside - Brazelton is now a Padre. He won't effect E-Jacks' shot at a roster spot, which is what I thought you were insinuating.

So....since he can't be signed to another 2-year extention, does his salary increase by $5 to reserve him again?

Not sure, I thought it was retroed to whatever his contract terms where?
When I reserved him last year, I signed him to the two year deal.

Right...so he already has a 2-year, $10-a-year contract. He can't be signed to another 2-year extention per our rules, so the other penalty to reserve someone is kicking their salary up $5. So he should be at 2-years, $15 by my calculations.

No, I don't think the calcs aren't correct. He should only be $15 for next year, his salary this year was $10. Right?

Well...it would be $15 this year too, though post-auction that doesn't matter. It's for next year that it would bump to $15.

I hate to be a stickler here, but I don't see anything in the rules that discusses this increase in price.

No...he's in the major leagues.
The only players who can go on a reserve list are those taken in the auction who get demoted to the minors.

No problem, I was also looking for clarification such as he needs to either br on the dl or sent to the minors to be on the reserve list.
but nope is fine

Well, I wanted to simply say "no" but it was too short of a post.
He needs to be sent to the minors, AND have been taken in the auction to be put on the reserve list. He needs to be on the DL to go on the injured list. Someone who is day-to-day needs to be kept active, or released outright.

E,
Options with E. Jack are: resign at $15 for next year or release him and take the $1 hit next year?
If I decide to keep him at 15 for next year he stays reserved and if I choose I can take the hit next season?

Answer #1: Yes...resign at $15 for 2007 or drop him and take a $1 hit.
Answer #2: Yes...if you restructure his contract again, he is signed at $15 for next year and before the auction you can choose to keep him or take the $1 hit.

Upon further review, my best option is to resign at $15 for next year just so I can keep the rights to him for this season.
